How many meals does your dog get each day?

2 meals a day of James Wellbeloved!

1 round of toast-first thing
Goes for a 1 hour run
2 mugs JWB

Then in the afternoon another 1 hour run

1 mug JWB and 1 large pigs ear

Any scraps leftover from cooking

A very fit and active Dobermann! I don't feed the 1 meal a day since my old GSP had a torsion and we spread out the meals after that and its stuck since then!

100% agree with Karynk and CALA - people saying that once a day is cruel are wrongly humanising dogs....

They are not designed the same way as humans... their biology is totally different. For example - did you know that a dog doesn't have any enzymes in its saliva (humans have amylase) because for them - digestion doesn't start int he mouth - so they don't really bother to chew their food. Then in the stomach they have a huge amount more stomach acid than we do. Have been reading a really fab book on dog digestive systems and nbutrition called 'feeding your dog for life' by diane morgan. Would recommend it.

Don't think people realise how different their nutritional needs are to ours...

Mine get fed twice a day, same as the horses.

Old dog used to be fed ad-lib (dried food) but the arrival of ex-stray 'where is my next meal coming from?' pig dog meant that had to stop or old dog would have starved to death

As for cats - I seem to feed the whole neighbourhood! Whenever I look at the cat bowls they're empty, so I always have to top them up in case ours haven't beaten the neighbours' cats to it!
