How many of you actually own horses?

I have 3. J's slowly wandering towards partial retirement / an easier life (with all the fun bits of hacking and fun jumping I hope for a few years yet!) and D's a yearling so I just have my five year old in "real" work for now :) Wouldn't be without them for anything, I love having them in my life!

I have an IDxCob who is 7 years old, I have owned her for approximately 2 1/2 years.

She is the first horse I have ever owned myself, had a previous horse on loan & a pony bought by my patents when I was younger.

I am very lucky to of found my forever horse the 1st time around, would never swap her for the world :)

I own 2 - a 4yr old gypsy cob gelding and a 2 year old cwmesgair welsh cob. i also have an 11yr old in foal broodmare here (who belongs to a friend). the broodmare is here to keep the 2yr old company when i`m out and about on the big lad. they all get on really well and i love em to bits.

Wow! You guys are all so lucky :D
I love reading all the names and different types that people have ^^
I would really LOVE my own horse, but I just couldn't leave Ned. He is ridden by others, but only when there's no other horses :P I'm the only one who arrives at the yard saying "NED PLEASE!!! YAY!" He's become such a spoilt little horse too hahaha!
Seeing Ned is such good experience for me. I don't have the responsibility of actually owning him, but when I go to the yard I have to act like he's mine (Food, water, grooming etc)

Tomorrow- Our first dressage attempt! Hehe!

@Emilieu: Yup, that's his real name :D

I own my mare. She found me really. I was not really looking for a horse and was happy riding for people, but she needed a person and had lots of issues (not physical, just mental) we clicked immediatly. She's now a very happy horse....i wouldn't swap her for the world....she's my perfect horse! (buckets at the ready from too much sentiment!)

I still ride a couple of other people's as well though. Keeps me on my toes ;)

I have 2.....My first ever own horse (had a few on loan beforehand) whom I've owned for almost 14 years now, he's my little sweetheart and I truly can't imagine life without him. The sweetest little Welsh Sec D you could ever meet and he ticks EVERY box for the 'perfect first horse' or 'perfect mother daughter share' he's just, well, perfect.

Then there's My Dream horse.....Had him a little over 2 years now and again, I cannot imagine life without him. The second I set eyes on him I knew he was the one (even though I wanted a 10yr old or under, Mare, Between 16hh and 16.3hh, NO Bays and NO Warmbloods.......he was a 19yr old Bay 18.1hh Warmblood Gelding lol). He's a challenge and he's very quirky, but that's part of why I love him so much.....He's a total Mummy's boy and very much a 1 person horse, he has more talent than I know what to do with and he'll turn his hoof to anything.

I do...sort of by accident! Had no intention of buying a horse but he was being sold by a very good friend of mine who was leaving to join the army and was too good an opportunity to miss!

i am exceptionally lucky to have two beautiful horses in my life :)

after being told i couldn't own a horse whilst living at home, i decided at the grand old age of 15 and 11 months i new better and was going to buy a horse, not just any horse, a wild, un handled oaf of a yearling filly (see avatar), who i thought was a colt when i bought her because no one could get close enough to check and the owner couldn't remember :L Enter Pip. but i am happy to report she is now the love of my life and has won my parents over even my father with her massive character! i pay for her compleetly my self and always have done however my parents are supportive, i'm now 18 and shes three rising four, she tests every boundary, quite literally, she doesnt like to be contained and will quite happily 'change fields' when she feels necessary! this doesn't please our YO too much

we then bought mums horse maii from the same breeder. i dont own this one

then earlier this summer my sister and i had a sudden rush of blood to the head and bought Cody 3 month old (at the time) coloured PBWXTrad cob. the idea is to sell him as a three year old, but i can see that going the same way as pip. . . i was meant to sell her once we got a headcollar on her and could pick out her feet . . . and here we are two years later, backed, riding on and with quite a competition record in the show ring. shes not going any where!

Wouldn't Swap either of them for the world :D

I have my 15hh traditional cob who is 5 and the love of my life, and our 11.2 section a, 15yrs young who we bought and keep as a lead rein pony for my niece. In all honesty he's been more of a nanny pony than anything but thank god because the big lad couldn't have managed box rest without his little brother.

For my sins I am now the proud owner of two. I had Nitty first, she is three now, but I got her before she was two and after sort of loaning BH and riding him away, teaching him to jump and canter and hack I thought I had better buy him when he came up for sale too.

I don't really want two riding horses though so once she is backed (which I'll get round to eventually I guess) I'll probably sell him and either have just one or buy another two year old.

We loan an ex-racer called Reggie. His owner is the nicest person around and we are so lucky to have someone as supportive as her owning him because she fully understands that horses don't always go exactly to plan!

We've never really owned though. Been riding for 12 years now, and have nearly always loaned. On one occasion the loan got signed over to us so he was then my horse- yet another owner who was amazing and lovely and kind. Love loaning horses, as although we can afford the upkeep and running costs easily we cannot afford the £5/6k it would take to get a horse who was a nice as Reg could be!

I own three, but one is a Shetland pony and is out on loan to a lovely family.....and is enjoying life as a pony club superstar!

My first horse I got when I was 16, she started on loan but was then gifted to me. She was old and when I lost her I had a break from horses whilst at uni, then got a horse on loan again, and also had one on loan last summer whilst still owning one other (does that make sense?)
