How many of you are totally straight when you ride?

I think everyone has a weak side and will lean slightly one way or the other. Sometimes if the horse is weaker on one side it will throw the rider to that side to compensate.

For example Archie will go crooked as an evasion and start swinging his quarters around which makes me shift my weight and sit crooked. Whereas if i just sat straight and rode him more forwards and over his back it would stop him going crooked. - hope that makes sense!

I never thought I was perfectly straight but I noticed when I was driving the other day (manual car) that I rest my right leg by rolling onto the outside of my right ankle, and so collapse through my right hip, when i'm not using the clutch. I try to put my right foot on the angled foot rest now but i've got no idea how long i've been doing it so i'm probably pretty unlevel.

Before you read on, you should know i'm blonde, so that may explain why i don't understand what you've said

... but unless you're driving a left hand drive car? surely you'll be using your right foot for the acclerator pedal, and therefore shouldn't ever be resting it anywhere but...
So i'm guessing you mean your left foot??

I ride fairly straight because my horse 'skips' behind otherwise. My sister rides wonky- she appears to sit to the right when you walk behind her. Her pony's strides throw her that way, apparently! I think it's because her old pony hjad quite short strides and didn't swing through like Ellie does, and it's taking some getting used to. However, it doesn't seem to affect Ellie's way of going- their dressage is improving all the time, and the pony has no back problems...

I was completely straight in my pelvis when i first had my back done by a Mctimoney Chiro aged 22 but my neck was awful and a wonky head. Ever since then every treatment my pelvis has been v wonky and i can feel it when i ride when i'm bad but it is better that than the headaches i used to get from my neck.

im also not straight
i was pretty good until Shantih threw me off onto a concrete yard via a huge twisty bronc fit about 4 years ago.
need to do some pilates to help me really.
suppose going for an xray at the time would have been helpful too..................
