How many of you declare non surgical colic espisodes on insurance?

As the title states; if you have had a vet out to your horse for colic but it passed without having to have surgery and just had some antispamodics, bute or maybe even an internal... Do you state this on your insurance renewals and/or do you let your insurance know?
 
I told them about Dex last xmas who had a night of it due to dehydration (when we had sub zero temps for days and despite filling troughs twice a day with warm water, he still didnt drink enough)and they said that as long as the vet was happy it was a one off then no exclusion- that was AIMS who are owned by SEIB
The problem is if you do not tell them then they could wriggle out of a claim later by saying it was a concealed pre-existing condition.
 
You have to notify them of anything that requires vet treatment, even if you don't claim, otherwise you will invalidate your insurance. Insurance companies are buggers, don't give them yet another excuse to get out of paying up.
 
hmm, bit late!! I didn't realise that you had to declare random bouts of colic and mare had 8ft of intestine cut out few months back.. She had colic episode from off barley that the farmer dumped in her field and she had another episode that they put down to her being chilled.
I don't fancy my chances, big fat horse repair bill on it's way to me I think! She wasn't insured at the time of other visits but I guess this doesn't count!
 
Dont give up hope, we lost our lovely big boy to colic last year. We filled out all the forms which included his vet history which had 4 bouts of colic on them and sent them of to the NFU, they sent a cheque within the week, could luck.
 
Sorry to hear about you loss... Unfortunately the insurance company I am with isn't renowned for paying up, my horse was out on loan and it was insurance to cover the first 3month trial period before the loanee took it on herself... Fingers crossed though
