how many of you have your own transport to shows?

I have a truck and trailer, used to have a lorry but I don't do as much now as when I was younger.

I like the freedom it gives me, and I worked very hard to get to this point! I can go to shows and things when I want to, and even wake up in the morning and think 'Can't be bothered after all today'...it's one of the reasons I don't take anyone else anymore. It came to be expected, and after a couple of times when I had to scratch for whatever reasons, I was sent on a guilt-trip and I got fed-up of it! So the left-side of the trailer is occupied by haynets, water barrels and buckets.... :D

I've got a lorry and like someone else said I love the freedom of just going where you want and when you want!

I wish I did! But luckily I've got a great YO who goes out of his way to get me to shows regularly, and on top of that other people who can and willingly do drive the YO's small lorry to get me to local stuff and the family who loan my coloured horse have been known to bail me out as well. I'd like to do my lorry test in the near future as I'm REALLY fortunate in that I'd be allowed to borrow a lorry so can't really complain. Would love my own freedom though!

I have a trailer but am seriously thinking of selling it.
I have had it for 5 years and during that time, it has done more runs to the vets (with my last 2 horses), than to anywhere exciting.

I have a trailer, which I couldn't be without nowadays and it's come in useful for the occasional thing other than horses too (such as moving a couple of OH's huge carpentry workbenches from his old workshop to the new one). Before that I did have a (very ancient) Bedford TK for a couple of years.

But for those of you who don't yet have your own transport, if it helps you feel just one tiny bit better - for my first 10 years of horse ownership, I had no transport of my own whatsoever.

I have a trailer and love the freedom that it gives me. It is a cheval libertie and Charlie loves going in and travelling. I feel very lucky as have spent years relying on other people and hiring

Try 35+ yrs of horse-ownership and STILL not having your own transport:mad:

I have a trailer but with 3 horses and 3 riders debating about getting either a 3.5 to travel the additional 1 and keeping the trailer and rangey or an expensive light weight 7.5 ton and sell the trainer and 4x4 ... choices who needs them.

Have just bought a bargain of a 3.5 transit, basically saved it from the scrap yard (not in massively bad condition but the girl who had it couldnt afford to have it sorted) thankfully my bloke is a mechanic who trained on transits, and so far its roadworthy and safe for the horse, now just the cosmetics of a new paint job :)

I am loving the fact that i can just decide if the weathers nice to pop him on the lorry and drive to the beach, or if i find out at the last minute about a clinic or show we can just jump in and go.
