Shes not clipped and wears a no fill turnout and hood at the moment.
Somedays it's a lick and a promise, other days a full groom.
She enjoys the attention TBH !

i always thort u should brush a stabled horse/ rugged up horse regulary for skin stimulation or something? mine gets brushed every day... only wouldnt do this if were turned out 24/7 without rugs to keep oils in coat etc

Yes, I remember reading this in the Pony Club Manual yonks ago . It makes sense to me

I like grooming, but at the moment Brook's out during the day with her rug on so she never gets that filthy apart from her legs and I don't want to go overboard grooming the rest of her because she needs the oils in her coat. I'm going to get a bottle of detangler and make her tail look beautiful, though...

*plays My Little Pony with great big bouncy bay thing *

Whats a lick and a promiss???

Not at the moment as he is out 24/7 and not in the summer as he gets bathed regularly due to being washed off/bathed for comps. He gets the occasional brush off if I need to get rid of mud etc, but I let him live like a horse as much as possible so he is rarely stable for any serious length of time. I am more likely to give him a good "finger scratch" when he tries to groom me back

No. Mine all live out 24/7 so the least amount of brushing, the better for them. I groom if I am riding but I never over-groom; don't want to disturb the natural oils.

Min mostly lives out so I don't like to over- groom him but I'll usually give him a quick brush down when changing his rug in the morning, and at the weekends, he gets a thorough head to toe pampering.

Star just loves being groomed. She is in at night out in the day. She has a flick over in the morning before I ride to remove the stuck on bits of bed, and a full top to toe when she comes in at night. I think it's a good time to combine with checking for any injuries

Definition
a lick and a promise is a quick and careless cleaning or wash

Yes! Well there may be the odd day when I don't but I always do over the winter because my horses are in and rugged up and so I enjoy pampering them ... in the summer when they are living out I only pick out their feet and use a dandy brush so that the grease isn't removed from their coats.

Well, my boy gets fully groomed, head to tail, including finishing with hot cloths and everything, every single day!

But, er, I don't actually do this myself. He's on full livery and it is included.

I should say that this isn't just cos he's a poncey show horse - he's also a stallion and therefore somewhat deprived of physical contact with other horses, so he really loves being groomed and fussed over by humans.

And tbh I feel more secure knowing that they check every inch of him, every day, for any little scratches or anything...

Shall I start a pathetically neurotic Arab-owners clique?

. I brush any mud off before I put tack or rugs on, but thats it. His tail hasn't been brushed in well over a year. If he isn't getting ridden/rugged he goes for weeks without seeing a brush, which is a good thing imo.

She is not keen on being brushed so only gets brushed where the tack touches before being ridden. However she gets her feet picked out when she comes in every day and I run my hands all over her to check for injuries, she quite enjoys being finger groomed when she's in the mood.
