... to nerve block a horse?
We had our follow up visit at Willsely yesterday. Sven is happy with the improvement to his back (another 6 weeks lunging prescribed) but he was still slightly lame.
He wanted to nerve block his coffin joint - after a mild sedative it took 5 people to clip his hair around the joint then the vet joined in to do the nerve block.
There was a lot of improvement, but not 100% so he tried to do the heel - we eventually got the hair off but no way were they going to get any needles in so had to give up on that one.
To be fair he wasn't deliberatly being nasty - just trying to stop them sticking needles in his - but he got into such a panic he lost the plot!
X-rays of the coffin joint and foot came back normal so we still have no clear idea of why he is lame, other than pain in the coffin joint. Into the bargain he's got to stay in for 2 days until the bandage can come off his let - and he's not impressed!
Back to willesley for the next visit in 6 weeks if they don't give him an ASBO in the meantime!
