How many rugs do you have for your horse?

I'm a bit obsessed with buying rugs ..... I have about 10 turnouts for each of my two horses in various weights. Then the little one only has three stable rugs as she is mostly turned out but my gelding, on last count has 12 stable rugs. Then they each have a couple of fleeces and also a couple of quarter sheets. I could do with far fewer to be honest, but like to have clean rugs to put on regularly. I get them all cleaned at the start of the autumn and then don't need to again until the following year because I have so many to swap in with, if that makes sense? Haha!
 
I have a rain sheet for each of them. The poorer doers have a lightweight each. Most of them have a medium weight and everyone has a heavyweight. I have an assortment of fleeces too. I think it's enough :-)
 
Once again I am here to swoop in and make you all feel better about your rug habits.

I have gone from five horses to three (one of which is out on loan at the moment, so two really), and still I have two hundred and seven rugs.

Yep.

In recent years I have dramatically downsized my rug collection. I really don't need all those rugs so, my girls both have:
1 x Rambo Duo with neck and different weight liners
1 x Rain sheet
1 x Fleece Cooler
1 x MW Stable rug

in really cold weather I put the cooler under the MW stable rug.

Course I still have all the other rugs in my garage... couldn't possibly throw them away or sell them cos you just never know do you :D
 
I feel much better after reading this. Old horse had 21 and I thought that was bad. Unfortunately he was a midget so I sold all but 2. New(ish) girl has:
LW TO
HW TO with Neck
MW Stable
2x HW stable
HW stable neck cover
Fly rug (must sell it as haven't used it this year)
Fleece
Thermatex (Little breezy on the bum though as was old boys)
Net Cooler (as Above)

So that is only 9 rugs and 1 neck cover. I can think of at least 3 more I would like, but horse is for sale. Maybe the next one will be a different size and I can buy more :D

Oh my. That's a lot of rugs. I don't think I have a problem with 13 now at all. I'll tell my OH this when I order the checked heavyweight combo TO I've seen. He already has 2 heavyweight TO but I can safely say it isn't an addiction! Haha
 
Pete has:
1 no fill turn out & 2 lightweight turn out rugs.

He has a fleece, fleece/mesh cooler & lightweight stable rug. The last two came with him

A lot if people on my yard comment on his lack of rugs, but he's never cold or wet - he's a hardy native pony!

My last TB had about 20 rugs & yet I used them all?!
