Landowner asked me this morning about maybe renting grazing to someone who wants grazing for sheep. I currently have a 7 year old and a yearling on the grass in question - which has not been overused this year. There is a good coverage of established grass out there at present.
As I don't know anything about sheep - I wanted to know how many sheep can be on the grazing with the two horses through a potentially 'bad' winter and hope that all will be happy with enough to munch on? (Obviously the horses will get haylage when the time comes). And will the sheep eat the haylage? (Just thought of that!!). Don't want to pay out to feed someone else's sheep!
There have been sheep out there before, but in the summer, and I didn't count them (because I would have fallen asleep!), and it has sheepwire fencing/hedges all round so they can't escape.
