fluffy?! x

Well a friend jokingly said "what have you called him...Fluffy?" & it kind of stuck! Hes actually a very nice snake & very friendly, but still has LOTS of growing left to do :)

Not seen any here yet (although we have grazed all the grass round the yard very short so i don't keep standing on them like last year!) but when we were kids my sister and I were fishing with little fishing nets for minnows in a lake in the USA - she assumed she had got a big fish, but when she pulled it out of the water discovered it was a Cottonmouth Water Moccasin - one of the most aggressive, most venomous snakes in the States! A bite from that would probably have killed her. (Net handle was only 18 inches long) She is now terrified of snakes, unsurprisingly! We used to come across rattlesnakes all the time, they used to like to lounge under the jump poles - course building was something like playing Russian Roulette! I much prefer living in England!

Have only ever seen a grass snake once on the west coast of Scotland, not seen any snakes over this way (NE Scotland). Seen a few snakes in Florida - a couple got into our swimming pool which isn't amusing... Florida has plenty of nasties too. I always always check under my bed sheets there... I remember we were canoeing down a river in some floridian swamp and there was a HUGE snake dangling over a branch on a tiny island in the middle of the river. The bloody boat somehow ended up getting too close to the island - I freaked out (being young) and wacked the branch WITH THE SNAKE ON with my oar!! Didnt knock the snake in, but it looked pretty peed off.

More terrifying for me was finding a black widow spider in the garage there - the spider-catcher dude came with a massive pole to catch it, he wouldn't go anywhere near it, apparently it seriously hurts being bitten. YEUCK, hate spiders.

Fatal if you are a little kiddy! The horse show I worked at in California was like Arachnaphobia for Black Widows, they were everywhere! Every horse manger, every tack box you opened, everything had families of the blimmin things, I hated it!

When I lived in the USA I kicked a snake thinking it was a stick not amusing!

My mum was bitten by an adder AGES ago when she lived in Cornwall luckily she was fine as she got to hospital reasonably fast and had the antidote!
