How many times a week do you hack ?

I shouldn't really laugh as its not that funny or traumatic but when I was about 12 , I was hacking my pony out on the lanes from my old yard and on a blind(ish) bend a tractor came round out of nowhere .. well it slammed it brakes on but the pony spotted it span my foot caught on a tree .. so you have child stuck on tree .. pony has pegged it down the road and man in tractor looking slightly shell shocked and white as he must have thought he'd killed me (as I was still caught in tree!)

I adore hacking, I try to hack out 3 times a week ! If anyone in the wales area fancies picking me up for a beach hack - I'm well up for it !!!

I hack about twice a week. I'd find it boring if I did it any more often, but one hack tends to be a 40minute 'quick hack' and the other is usually up to the canter track so it's a bit more interesting than just plodding along the roads.

I always concentrate on making my horse work correctly while we're hacking as well, which gives me something to think about

Like Ogmore but I usually end up falling of there so I'm convinced its jinxed!

Maybe we should swap!! My mare is 33 years young and I have a friend who has been having a lesson on her once a week for 15 years, and she still wouldn't manage her out on a hack. She's not naughty, just whizzy! But if you worry about what she's doing then she worries that there is something to worry about!

Absolutely - and while you are at it make sure you do it properly. Considering the ensuing trauma it caused a years free hay and at leat 3 large round bales of haylage should cover the damage don't you think?!

I love hacking and exploring new routes. Its very relaxing or can be adrenalin fuelled if I go out with a friend for blasts. I am not so into schooling but do enjoy all the ususal rc activities.

When I can go again it will be three times as we we will be legging up again having lost any fitness we had painfully acquired before MoM's injury!

I'm a bit of a saddo, I think. My hacking is not hacking, it's training. So it's a question of distance, time and pace and improving all three, so for me seeing that 'same old tree' is a good marker point to judge things from! I'm a bit obsessive with it - like when I used to go to the gym.

On the other hand, schooling in an arena bores the pants off me but I do it because it is good for us - not often though

Sat, Sun, Tues, Wed, Thurs, ....and sometimes Mon, I rode twice last night and didnt get home till 9, OH had my tea on the table as well, thought I'd walked into the wrong house!

i hack everytime i ride because we have no school to ride in ! i love it though , you can switch off from the rest of the world and just enjoy your horse ! but i dont have to ride on any roads i might feel differently if i did !

Kenfig Beach is amazing, absolutely stunning and mile after mile of it !!
 
i hack out as it is important for my horses fitness (they are sjers) and it gives them a break from the school and jumping and i think it makes them braver having encounter lots out hacking
 
5 x a week on the road for about an hour, mainly in walk. I only go alone a couple of times a month and the roads are quite so I can always have a god chat.

Then when I'm off school another twice a week for about 3 hours with my best friend and we have a whale of a time.

But I quite dislike hacking alone.

The rest oft he time I ride in the field or the school (once a day every day!).

I have to hack the horses though as it keeps them sane! I used to love the beach hacks but now I have a full TB I don't think I'd ever be able to stop!!!!

I have just done a long "hack" nearly 60 miles over 5 days staying at horsey b and b, Ray's Farm , Bridgenorth, to Plowden, over the Jack Mytton Way.Gives a whole new definition to the word hack
 
I like hacking, gives me 'n' the ned chance to wander along and contemplate the world (when she's not being spinny thing lol). Love to either wander gently down a lane, or blast through a field

I love hacking, i hack with a friend and never get bored of it. We are in the most beautiful country estate and have loads of tracks and routes to choose from.
I try and work in the school once a week and hack the rest of teh time. I have a lesson on sunday and haven't been practising much, because of the hot weather. Must try and do some tomorrow.
