I usually jump twice a week, once at competition and once in a lesson in the week.

But if I happen to be doing dressage at the weekend I will just jump once.

I happen to know a few people who will jump every day, and even will go to a show in the morning get eliminated - jump loads in the warm up then go and have a jump lesson in the afternoon, then jump again the next day!!!

The horse is looking very sour at the mo so only a matter of time! But how much do you think is too much????

I jump pretty infrequently TBH,. Mainly working on flatwork at the moment, will jump twice in a week before a comp, but thats it! Will increase to perhaps twice a week plus a comp in the summer.

Once a week only because I need to keep my confidence up, and any less than that and I start thinking 1'9" is too high! My horse doesn't need jumping much really, but once a week seems to do her good as she 'gets into it' a bit more.
Then again I haven't managed once a week for ages, considering she's not been in regular work since September! So currently it's whenever she's sound and healthy!

I prob jump less than you have on there.
Prob once every two weeks.
I do alot of dressage work during the week with my mare then like to take her out hacking at the weekend for change of scenary and too chill her out for the following week.

I do not get the people that jump jump jump then wonder why there horses/ponies throw the towel in!

I don't jump properly anymore, just the odd log on hacks. I'll do the odd class at shows - he knows how to jump, don't have to practice at home! If I competed properly I wouldn't jump at home more than once a week, too easy to get stale.

Don't jump much at home. Like to keep my horses sweet. Do alot of hacking and flatwork, but only tend to jump if need to iron out a problem or have a really big comp.....

I have been doing a fair bit over the past week to build up my confidence as it finally clicked the other week - now 2ft is a warm up and not the aim

.
I can tell though the minute I go in if he wants to jump, and I dont do it for a solid schooling session, usually 10 mins at the end and he gets breaks as I have to get off and sort the jumps.

But now that I know I am not scared I will just be having jump lessons and working on technique as got the start of the confidence thing sussed.

I must add that he does LOVE jumping!

I only ride at weekends but when i do go up if I'm competing on the SUnday i will jump on the Saturday at home or in a lesson. If I'm not competing i will have a lesson on the Sunday.

So he gets jumped one/twice a week

BTW he does get ridden in the week just not by me lol!

It depends on how my horse is jumping to be honest. I used to jump once in a lesson and then once in a competition so twice a week but sometimes it can be more. For example when he started back jumping metres a few weeks ago, he was really excited in the ring. Very full of himself so instructor suggested a few cross-poles during the week and a few different exercises such as grids as a way of boring him

Seemed to do the trick, he settled pretty quickly and now only usually jump at the weekends when at a competition and then once usually 2 days before our competition.

I usually try to jump once or twice a week including competing. That said though I am not against jumping a horse several days running, providing 1, the work is not too demanding and 2, the horse is enjoying it. To continously jump a sour horse is plain stupid, my old JA pony was switched off completely when I got her and so I spent all summer hacking and doing small cross country competitions and no show jumping until the indoors started, by which time she was sweet again, but I was very careful not to overjump her!

With winston and bertie i rarely jumped at home, mainly just went to the event to jump.
With snoopy I try and jump at least once a week, if i am competing at the weeknd will try and jump him the day before but litterally only over 3-5 fences and finish. Mainly to get mine and his eye in.
Hes growing up more and more and doesnt even need to pop x poles or small fences to start will, will just jump a nice sized upright to an oxer down the double both ways and thats it.
I have poles out all the time and do jump/flat work about 3 times a week so i practise changes, cantering between two poles or do a line of canter poles.
Basically dont have to leave the ground to practise.
Mind you at yards years ago, there were one or two who would jump a good 4-5 times a week on the same horse and again, it was only a matter of time before it went sour or got jarred up.

Twice a week usually....once at home in my lesson, and one day at the weekend at a show. Very occasionally i will have a second pop over some fences at home if i'm working on something....and even more occasionally we will go to a 2 or 3 day show and jump more than one day

well as i am away at uni and no horse then jumping of me and the horse is zero but when i am at home will jump abotu once a week, as our jumping has got rusty. last summer when our jumping was good, we would jump at competitions only.
but i try and make the schoolin constructive and think of different exercises to do.

When I was in proper training ages ago we jumped twice a week or once a week if competing at weekends. Never a day before the show and never a day after. Never more than twice a week.
With my young horse I did proper jumping once a week plus twice a week a lot of pole and cross poles exercises. He would also be loose jumped once a week. When he started competing it was cut to once a week as with older horses.

I only jump the oldie at competitions, he knows his stuff and it would bore him silly.

The ex p2p fred head the mad one, I jump him a couple of times a week, once on the lunge to remind myself how daft he is and once riding him to try and install some carefulness to it!

I jump once a week.

I have weekly lessons on a Saturday alternating between flat work one week and jumping the next. The weekend that I have a flatwork lesson I will pop over a few fences at home on the Sunday or Monday as ned loves jumping and it adds a bit of variety to his routine.

Don't really jump at all, except odd log out hacking, my poor horse is not really built for it, although given frequent recent bucking spisodes I am think of starting up. Bit would only be 1 or 2 times a week as he get bored very easily.

I put once a week but sometimes thats only in my lesson at college(on their horses) as my boy is rising four and very green with jumping I don't want to overface him and want to get the flatwork right first!

Oh I was going to post this... Good topic!!

I jump ridden about once/twice a week although not in rock so will follow a session on next days if needed....Also different types of jumping say Saturday cross country... Wednesday show jumping... Monday on lung or loose schooling....I believe lunging or loose schooling is a really good way to teach jumping spesh with my youngsters so about once a week for that too

I only jump at competitions- these are mostly in uni holidays but never more than one a week, and then I have a jumping lesson once a month. My horse jumps discovery BSJA. She keeps her form really well and is always full of enthusiasm for the job and loves it. Even if I could I wouldn't jump her anymore as puts extra strain on the legs and I wouldn't want her to lose interest.

I find my horses don't need much jumping at home. If mine are competing every weekend then I dont jump them at all at home. Obviously if one doesnt have anything on for a couple of weeks then Ill jump once at home.

I find mine are better to jump fresh.
