just wondering how many times a week you ride, obviously depending on weather lifestyle etc. I try to ride at least 3/4 times a week, but we have no indoor school so does very much depend on weather, i do someimes think i should be riding more, but murphy seems happy at the moment with the amount we are doing.

This time of year she is ridden 5-6 times a week, mostly hacking but at least once a week schooling and lunging. Like to add though, that it's not all me as my friend who has a baby and no longer a horse, rides her too. I babysit, she gets to have some fun with a horse without the hastle of ownership and my mare benefits from a competant rider instead of a numpty. Win, win!!

I normally ride 6/7 times a week (one day might be an easy 20 min walk round the block if its 7 days).
However at the moment its more like 5 days as I have a wedding coming up. Sometimes I ride quickly, other times I work him quite hard.
I think if you are happy with the amount you are working and your horse is happy and healthy then it doesnt matter.
There was a period of time with my old schoolmaster when I was at uni that I would only ride him once a week at most. Sometimes it depends on what else is going on in life :).

I am lucky to work from home, so my two get excercised 3-4 times a week at this time of year, plus either lungeing or riding and leading with my son's pony.

Come hunting season this is upped to 4-5 times a week.

Aim for twice a week then I feel I've had my monies worth :) but sometimes it can be 3 times a week and sometimes once in 2 weeks. I try not to put pressure on myself anymore. Love looking after him and being outdoors anyway so look at the riding as a bonus.

My main horse i ride 6/7 times a week.. the mare really thrives of being ridden or doing something. i try to hack once a week but this can be diff as we only go out depending on weather and whether there is a horse to come out with us as the mare is is a big puff on here own. i have in the past given her more than one day off a week, but to my joy i notice the sprite of energy/enthusiasm after a day off so i try not to give to many for peice.

I go through fits and starts with riding. Sometimes I like nothing better than walking out in hand and having a good old run while she trots a long beside me and then I might ride just once that week. Sometimes I get my 'must ride more' he'd on and ride five times a week. I always have weekends off to be with the family and I tend to have school holidays off too as hubby is a teacher so we tend to do family things. I feel guilty going off riding and leaving them to entertain themselves although hubby tells me to ride sometimes because i can sometimes be very moody. Hard to believe I know lol! Having said that though I will try and ride in the evenings during school holidays but that only tends to be in the summer when it's warm. Fair weather rider alert!

I'm a teacher, so term time, twice a week (at the weekend) although I am hoping I will be able to take him out on my own soon so that will mean at least once more in the early evening. He is ridden by others when I can't get there.

In the holidays I go up at least 5 times a week; every day if I can manage it. Only 4 more weeks 'til we finish for the summer :D:D YAY!!

I ride 7 days a week but it is my job to. I work ride racehorses so ride 3-4 of them a day and then of my own I try to ride 3 a day and alternate them. I have 6 to ride and 3 breakers but they are all show horses ad they don't need to be super mega fit. The Shetlands get ridden for 15mins 3 times a week as with my weight on them that is plenty enough. The TB's get ridden 4-5 times a week depending on if I have been away racing or not. They get ridden for 30-45mins a day depending on time and weather. On my days off from work I ride all of mine and try to hack out as many of them as possible - easier when I have the stubble fields right next door as I have no one to hack out with and I only trust 1 of mine 1000000% in traffic, the others don't mind traffic it's the stuff at the side of the road (such as the monster eaing drains!) that they spook at.
Of the breakers one is at the lunging stage, one lunging and long lining and will be sat on shortly and the 3rd will start properly in the autumn with the intention of being ridden away for January. The rest of the crew consists of 2 that are having a year off after 7-9years of work and the others are either retired, in foal or youngsters so they don't need anything done with them per se.

If anyone feels like coming to ride any of mine for me then please do feel free! :D

On average its once a week as I am riding friends horses as my current one is not backed. I used to ride Seren between 2 & 4 times a week, winter was always 2 times a week and summer 3/4 times a week, all hacking, I dont do schooling in the school :p:D

I ride 2 horses 5 or 6 times a week depending on what owner wants to do. Never have been very good at sharing luckily owner does not ride alot.

I ride a minimum of 4 times a week all year, again I work part time from home so I have 2 days a week where my son goes to nursery for the whole day and I get time to ride :)

In the winter I hack at least once a week and in the summer I turn it on it's head and force myself to school at least once!

6/7 depending on the weather !
New horse has far too much energy so gets ridden every day or she gets nutty and quite tricky to handle, if I'm really struggling for time I'll lunge her instead but do prefer to ride her. I do love spending time around her though as she's so keen to do everything and loves being kept busy.
My gelding gets ridden 2-3 times a week (mainly hacking) and lunged once or twice at the moment just to keep him ticking over, as he's semi-retired now but does need to keep doing things - he's the complete opposite of my mare and will happily stand looking pretty and doing nothing but I need to keep that tummy under control!
I take the little one for runs with me (like a giant labrador) when he's not throwing children off his back in all directions because he also loves going out and about but doesn't get much of a chance to any more, as I majorly outgrew him a few years ago and my little brother and sister are terrified of going faster than a walk because he's a bit buck-a-roo-esque! We get some funny looks but he does enjoy it and drags me flat out up the hills so is quite good for my fitness too ;)

blimey Pedantic's gone too? what's going on here?

I ride Fergles 6/7 times a week (sometimes more atm :o ) usually, but less this week as the rain has wrecked my field and I can't hack till I find my gate key (don't even ask!). Plus I ride J a few times a week, normally a plod out or a quick bareback session in the field. So maybe 10 times a week in total?

Mine gets worked every day really unless its tipping it down and I cant get out in a dry patch. He gets the occasional day off after he has worked hard but not many as its not good for his waist line.

Also whats happened to pedantic?

In the winter, I aim for 5 times a week! I usually do 3 schooling sessions during week in eve and then hack on Sat and Sun.
In summer, I aim for 5-6 times and usually do 3-4 hacks and then lunge or school on other days. I must admit, I get obsessed about riding. I worry about keeping weight down in summer, keeping them fit and I do like to get my money's worth:)

At least once a week, maybe 4 times if I have time or am working in her waistline like now! I am just a happy hacker and horses are at home so maintenance etc takes a fair amount of time and often I just don't fancy it, particularly if weather miserable.

I ride at least 3 times per week, hacking out for a couple of hours, whatever the weather all through the year (unless it's so icy it's dangerous). In my hols I ride pretty much every day, but have the odd day off to do something with my husband.

Ride whatever the weather- don't want a horse that I compete to object to being ridden in wind/rain etc.

Ride 6 days a week, school 4 x, once with pole work and hack twice. Sometimes this varies and I hack 3 x, school 3. But yes, in general ride 6 x a week. This will probably reduce to 5 x a week in the winter though as am mentally more tired after work for some reason :(
