In four years, my lad has only had an odd scrape on his legs, this last month he was hopping lame with a sprained tendon, while vet was there, i found a lump behind his cheek, no discharge from nose or eyes, advised to keep an eye on it, two weeks on, lump is on both sides and I think getting bigger, vet is coming to take a biopsy, I hope it's just me getting paranoid, can't imagine life without this lad
we had our 17hh Tb for a year, before selling him to a busier home, he was bored happy hacking, the day we picked him up he had a wire cut to the inside of his hock, fast forward 2 yrs and he was gifted back to me, covered in bites from an aggressive pony in his field, cue our mare getting territorial over my lad and grazing the TB's face, this TB seems to have been born to be bullied, he came in with a huge graze on the inside of his back leg, semi circular at the top, going right down to the inside of his hock, it turned out to be self inflicted while kicking out at flies.
Part 2 follows
TB part 2.
While trying to get his fly rug off, he managed to get the open field gate off it's hinges, he got the rug off alright, along with quite a bit of skin off his back legs,
i am rapidly acquiring a purple horse and because his fly rug was in tatters, he came in covered in lumps from the fly bites.
Despite his suicidal tendancies, he is the sweetest natured horse, his rider will get a shock when she next sees him
Undecided is that due to one injury/illness or several different things?
flirtygerty I hope your lad will be ok and the lump will be harmless. you must be very worried about him. He does sound like he has a tendency to self harm or get himself into fights he can't win, bless him.
We bought a new games pony two months ago, he was lame first time my daughter tried to ride him. We have had vets and farrier take a look but was hopping lame. He has been reshod and farrier thinks he was cut too short so we are just waiting to see. He does seem like a sweetie so we hope he will come right. Not a good start !!!!.
He was sound when we tried him so we hope he will be fine
