How many times have you clipped this year?

I've just had my horses clipped for the third time and I am hoping that that is the end of it for this year  My friend is brilliant at it so she does it for me and I give her the going rate so, for two horses, that's a fair whack. Once again I am wondering why my horses do better than me for 'haircuts', shoes and 'coats'

We started clipping late September and have done it every three weeks after that! Admittedly we do have our own clippers and very good horses to clip, so that does make a difference. The only time we left it for 4 weeks was in Decemebr when it was very frosty day and night! But they were very hairy. One is a warmblood and the others Welsh and Dales before I get what do you expect being cold blooded!
Personally I can't stamd them looking like coconuts, and my OH is very good at clipping!!

Zero. None. Nada. Nil. Not at all.

But then again, mine live out all year and only get ridden at the weekends this time of year - and even then what they do could hardly be called work!

I did one clip end September, then another a few weeks after that ... then done some this week (hopefully the other half of the herd tomorrow!) which will hopefully take us through to summer coats. Pleeeease!

Once, end of december they all have very thin coats but because it was realy cold it grew a little there rugged very well so keep there clip well x

Mine's a traddie cob and is the only living relative to a mammoth.

He was done (professionally) in September, then I did him again with my back-pack clippers just around the November time, I think - took me blimmin ages!, then he was done professionally again yesterday.

He does get sweet itch, so we find its much easier on him if he's kept regularly fully clipped all through the year, even in summer, especially as he's got quite heavy feathers if left to go native.
