How many YO's would do all this?

Still feeling very stiff and sore I arrived at the yard this evening to find that my YO had checked George a couple of times last night to make sure his legs were ok and not hot after our little exploit yesterday

. She had also done all the jobs for me that required bending/lifting to save me hurting myself

I eventually admitted that I was dubious about getting on as I didn't think I could physically manage it and it was absolutely blowing a gale so she arranged that the yard groom (v competent rider) would ride George for 40mins tomorrow morning for me, so when I get on him in the evening I would be more confident knowing it really was still 'good old George'! She also said I was to give her a shout tomorrow before I rode and she would come out and give me a hand

I said I'm sure I owe you for this amd she said 'my treat'

After the yard I came from I just can't believe this, not only does she care and love every horse, but she cares about us owners too, what a lovely YO.

TBH, I'd find it very strange (and I wouldn't think much of them) if she hadn't behaved like that.
I know it's true because you all say so, but it's a very strange conception to me, that YOs can be so bloody minded and money grabbing sometimes; aren't they in the job because they enjoy it; after all, who picks horses if they want to make pots of money?!!

I'm glad you seem to have one of the good ones!

So glad to hear both of you are well after your unscheduled dismount and George's little adventure.

What a treasure your YO is. Its so great to have someone caring for you like that. Enjoy your riding.

my yard owner doesnt give a damn!
when i fell off a youngster out hacking and he galloped home without me she didnt even realise it came from her own yard until i rang her to see if he was back!!

your very lucky!

hope you feel better!

Agree with MFH, i would think it odd if she did'nt do these things, after all ther is a duty of care and that in my eyes should extend to both the horse and its owner!!
If any of my charges have a fall i will check the horse and as in a case recently, ride the horse if asked, to check to see if all is well.
Maybe thats why we have such a good atmosphere on our yard because we all take care of each other. Not just take the money and run!!

Have to agree with MFH and Partoow here; all decent livery yard owners would surely do these things. It's part of the job to make sure all horses and owners are comfortable and happy and if a little extra help is needed then it is given graciously.

Glad everything is well though.

Last yard is money grabber and current yard is fanastic.... he would stay up until my horse pass [****] one night cos he had been quite colicky last year and he's was worried a bit. the yard is good 1 hour away from where i live... but wouldn't dream of moving him cos i love it there, horse very happy, loads turn out even in pissing down raining (my horse isn't bothered about the rain)

My YO is very silmilar..... she will do anything for anyone, is always there for helpful advice and is always putting herself out to help you.... and she loves all the horses on her yard, and having quite a few herself, works herself into the ground most days!
Its nice when you get a caring YO who can be classed as a good friend as well

not many! Last 2 places we've been at no way hozay! However at the current place the YM and staff are so helpful

YM has sat on Pidge and jumped him when I was having problems with his jump saddle, and the AYM has been lending me her own saddle so that I can jump Pidge whilst waiting for mine to be sorted out. Didn't ask anything for doing this but I was that grateful that I bought them a nice bottle of wine and chocolates

kind of restores your faith in human beings doesn't it.

Good YO are worth their weight in gold. Mine has looked after both my boys since the 29th - OH and I have been very ill with flu. I don't have to worry about them as I know he makes sure everything is done, rugs are right for the weathet etc.

Cairo needs a lot of TLC since the weekend and David has been looking after him like he was his own, including putting him in the school for a stretch and sleep and taking the old boys for little in hand walks and refuses to take extra payment. This is one of the reasons why I would be reluctant to change yards.

Will be getting him a nice present to say thank you for looking after the old boy so well.
