Hi,

This may sound odd, but I was google'ing horses rearing (as my lovely mare is rearing/napping out hacking) and I was just reading various articles and someone said that you shouldn't have your girth up on the top hole or near the top both sides! I did not know this, apparently it should be four wholes up roughly on both sides? (and not near the top)

How many holes up are everyones elese? Does anyone have their girth holes up high both sides???

(I have, I need a new girth and am actually looking purely as I find it hard to do up now it's so high up and it's a new saddle, so quite stiff. I can see the logic now but I never thought of this before!)

My horse's girth is done up on 4 holes either side. Sounds as though the girth you are using is too big for your horse. :)

Mine does up near the top, i have a girth the size down as well but i can rarely do it up! My horse is a bit of an oddity though, he bloats so much even the saddle fitter laughed at my girths! It goes upat least 6 holes after he stops bloating and someone/I get on him :/! He does occasionally buck but i dont think the girth is affecting that, he has a light material one as hes a sensitive boy... :)

Ooh when v fit, 4 on one side, 5 on the other!! N when not so fit, down to about 3 one side, 4 the other.
