How much and how long?

Hi All

Hve just ordered my first haylage bale of the year which i will be getting today. Once opened, how long will it last? Its a medium sized bale.
I have one horse (15.1 arab x welsh d with dust allergy) on light to medium work, and another (16hh TB mare) which isn't in work.
How much should i be feeding each? I fed horse hage to the horse in work last year, which was very costly, but i couldn't justify buying a larger bale to myself, as there would have been too much wastage.

If its the same size bale im thinking of (around £25) and theya are the oblong types then they are the ones I used last winter.

I shared mine with a friend. My horse who is 16.3 MW was on adlib and in every night and also about 3 days aswell. The other one was a 13.3 arab who also had it adlib. Bale used to last around 4 days.

Once opened I would ideally use it up withing 5 days but sometimes it can stretch a little longer. The colder the weather the longer it seems to last. Its quite obvious when its off though as first it smells funny and goes darker then goes mouldy.
