Yeah, that was for one foot.
As for insurance, depends on the company. Some pay all, some pay half, some dont pay any. We're with PetPlan and rang to see where they stood with paying out. They said it depends on the individual case, but they HAVE paid the full amount in the past.
I paid about the same £1250 at O'Gormans. My insurance paid it all as something was found. They wouldn't have paid anything if she was given the all clear.
Worth every penny though. My horse's tear in her tendon is right in the bottom of her foot. No way at all of getting an ultrasound scan of it, and if I hadn't had her MRI'ed she would have been classed as "navicular syndrome" and treated as such. As it is we know what she's done, to what extent, what other issues there are in there (degraded cartilage), and can make a far better guess at how long it will take for it to heal. I couldn't put a price on giving my beloved horse the best chance to recover, personally. But then I'm a sentimental fool!
