How much are people paying for shavings at the mo?

As title, ours have gone up again in price.

Might be going onto straw, the amount i use!!

I use Bed Down and its £5.85 a bale and I think its better than shavings.

flax at £6 a bale or £5 - £6 if i go and get it much better than shavings and cheeper.

£5.30, however YO has got bigger bales in this month.. and on the list where your write your weekly amount needed, mine now says 1 x large shavings..

Will get bill at end of month so will know then.. :shock:

we buy them in bulk of 40 bales a time (makes them cheaper) and we get free delivery!

Can't understand why you are all having to pay more. We buy ours direct from the supplier (admittedly we have a large amount), but the shavings price has only gone up once in the past year or so. I actually was asking our supplier after the last post on here about shavings not being able to be bought in, and they were very surprised and said they have had no problems with their manufacturing of them. If you live around the Newmarket/Ely area and are desperate for some, then PM me.

£5.25 from my local feed supplier. They have said there is a bit of a shortage of shavings though as lots of people have had trouble getting straw this year so have gone onto shavings.

£7 per bale at the mo, I have been on straw all winter with my mats, put huge banks and just a thin layer in the middle and it has worked a treat. My mare is very messy and I was getting through two bales a week of shaving's, I only use one and a half bales of straw. I sometimes mix shredded paper in too.
