Alot! She is getting through alot of hay and alot of feed, mostly chaff (dengie hi fi lite & happy hoof) with a few high fibre nuts so non heating. I would say on average she is getting through 3/4 bale a day. So I think my hay bill will be of similar value to your at £60 or so, plus all the bedding, eek

crikey I dont even want to think about it my 3 usually eat a big bale of haylage a week but I have my arab in so he is getting a bale of hay a day and the girls are on extra haylage its getting me down a bit as getting delivery of straw is a nightmare at the moment....roll on the thaw!

I'm only getting through about half a bale of hay a day as oposed to a third so not a great deal more than normal - my boy only eats so much and then he's like 'no more hay!!'

His bucket feeds are a little larger than normal but mainly bulked out with hi-fi and speedi beet...

We baled about 250 bales of hay in August (some of our own and some off the farmer's field). Cost us about £200 in total I guess. We are not even halfway through it. They will be back out 24/7 from the end of March so with any luck we will have a glut of hay left.

Haylage is a different matter, however. I am feeding my poor doer a couple of slices a day from bales that cost about £6.40. We use about 2 bales a week, so well over £50 a month, and have been feeding that since August as he has been on box rest (now out thankfully).

Feed isn't much different. They get their chaff and a bit of sugarbeet and some winter glow. That's it.

Buckets feeds have been reduced and hay has been upped, probably go through about 2-2.5 bales a day between four of them (two in at night, two out 24/7).

They seem to be getting quite bored of hay though, so today we bought a small bale of haylage to 'drip' feed them a little each time they get hay, to try and up their interest, without making them go loopy

I've cut out alot of hard feed at the mo, so i'm saving money there. But between my 5 horses I now go through about 1 1/2 big bales of haylege a week (£20 a bale) a bale normally lasts about a week and a half. So it is rather expensive (£30 a week), and I'm having to bring my next delivery forwards or i'll run out!

8 horses (including 7 month old, yearling + 2 year old) Large bale of haylage every 6 days + 2 to 3 small bales hay...+ usual alfa a + fibre beet so about £100 per week...EEkkk hadn't added that up before....

I've swapped to small bales now and Im gettin through 2 per day, so £35 per week.

One large round bale haylage every other day for 7 normal size horses from foal to fully grown ones, 1 shetland and 1 Sec A. Plus 3 Yearlings have one large bale in field all the time they go thro about 1 a week!
All plus hard feed, make our own haylage which costs somewhere around £9 per bale (get contractor in). Would hate to add it all up!

1 1/2 large rectangle bale per week for 6 horses (1 17.2, 1 Friesian, 1 Clydy, 2 Dartmoors and a 14.2 Welsh x). £ are getting out in the field during the day as well! Usually going thru just over 1 a week.

TBH I cant grumble. At least the old boy is eating well. I have reduced their hard feed a little. The hay is fabulous stuff, soft meadow hay. Each bale costs £25.

We have 6 big horses who all come in at night, its cost us a fortune this last week, we havd a £100 shavings delivery and used them all the same day! I think we have spent £250 on top of normal expences to keep eveything going recently! Crazy weather! I guess its cost so much as we have two very skinny Tbs who need extra care.

Ouch!!! My old boy is the main one who needs a bit of TLC. But tonight it would appear he is challenging my OH to a "big Belly comp"

I have always battled to keep weight on him. I recently took him off Cider Vinegar (getting v grumpy and wondered if he had a touch of ulcers - also a big stress head) and have him on Pink Powder as a short term. He is eating me out of house and home!

(never been a big foodie either!) Tonight as my OH wandered onto the yard I was just changing rugs and admiring the size of his belly. Even he remarked on how well he was looking.

I have my horses on Cushion bed just because it is cheaper and I have some serious muck monsters!!!! ATM I am managing to keep them on between 1 and 2 bales a week - each bale is 4.50 each. They are also on rubber mat so I dont feel so guilty if they manage to go through to the base. - Especially one of my FILTHY WET SMELLY Dartmoors. We had a thought that if he was the size of the Clydie, pro rata he would be twice as filthy as she is (and she is ROTTEN!!!) *roll eyes*

7 horses, 1 sec a and 2 shettys at the moment is £360 a month inhaylage and about £110 per month in hard feed.

I'm going through a bale of hay every other day (two ponies, totally ad lib am putting in twice as much as they eat a day incase it snows badly and I cant get down there for any reason) which costs me £2 a bale. Then a bag of nuts (costs £7) which lasts me about 3 months (no joke!) and the oldie has a little of a veteran mix (£10) which I'll end up throwing most of away as he won't finish the bag before it's gone 'off'. Plus both boys are on a supplement which cost me £7.50 and willl last ages. So all in all they cost me about £10 a week to feed between them.
