There is a feed merchants near us (East Kent coast) charging £6 a bale! My face was a picture when she told me the price....

Collected mine from local farmer last night - off the field - £2 a bale (£2.50 last year) and really nice hay.

Glad I went and fetched it as it is black overhead this morning!

Paid £2 a bale, collected off the field

£3/bale last year, just been told it isn't going up this year (phew!)
We had most of our winter's hay off our land last year - £50 to cover tractor diesel and baler twine, farmer came free (!) and we had to move and stack it ourselves, about 200 bales IIRC... so £2.50/bale.
I have been a bit out of touch with hay prices though as I've been feeding (or not feeding!) a fattie for so long! I thought £3 was about average!

Have to buy weekly so £3.95 a bale - varing quality and size. I tend to buy hayledge at £5.95 as the boy needs all the help he can get.
