How much are you willing to pay for Full Livery?

Hi, I might be going away for a period of time and am deciding whether to put my horses on full livery or pay someone to look after them at home. The place I have in mind has an indoor school, outdoor school, horse walker, nice stables, but not great turnout. What would people consider a good price to pay as I have been quoted a price which seems a bit steep- just wondered what others think is reasonable? Thanks
 
Depends what area you are in....

In my area you won't find full livery (without exercise) for less than 120 a week and that is only one yard, the majority of yards are between 140-160 a week, going up to 170-190 with exercise.
 
Where i'm from (Derbyshire) it tends to be around £70 - £95 a week based on facilities. The higher end being places that regularly hold shows, access to multiple schools, xc, jumps, etc.

In Dorset where i'm at uni, full livery starts at around £100 a week, going up to as much as £160! (I don't know how you Southerners afford horses on full livery, honestly! xD )
 
I was just quoted £75 a week for assisted - that would include hay and straw (as I can't use straw, I was offered to buy shavings in at cost, with no discount for the unused straw), t/o, b/i, feet pick out, legs washed, rugs changed (I don't rug), haynets hung, feeds put in (I have to buy and make up the feeds). I would muck out, skip out, ride and groom.
I would only get every other day t/o in winter so I would still have to do mornings on alternate days. I would have an outdoor floodlit school and individual tack room. I'm not sure what they were charging for full, but it seemed pretty steep to me as I pay £20 a week on DIY.
 
I'm in Cheshire, it's around £75 to about £120 a week depending on the yard, facilities and what's included i.e. hay, bedding, feed and exercising.
 
My concern would be moving to a full livery yard that I did not know the reputation of. Unfortunatly some places give you the whole "speal" of how they will do xy and z and they have late checks and extra hay.... but you soon realise that this is the get you through the gate talk.

One of mine is on a full livery with exercise - very expensive - but it really is diamond and platinum service - regualar updates - photo;s and videos - at least once a week and frequent texts to say what he has done etc.

Its so difficult to judge though when you are out looking - and I do not envy you this task - its not always price that reflects the standard of care - could you not get a groom/rider in ?

For what you listed, I pay £100 per week and buy my own shavings on top of that, so around another £40 ish per month plus. Yard also charges to exercise. Do you have any recommendations or references for the yard you're thinking of using? Also, have you got reliable care at home for your horses? You'd still be paying a freelance a fair daily rate to keep them at home so remember to add up all the costs such as hay, feed etc which would be included on full livery.

All things considered, I'd put them on a yard. Good luck, whichever way you go.
 
In east Anglia I pay £70 per week all included. No indoor school but outdoor with floodlights. Prices here between £65-£110
