As title really...........

My lot are on rubber mats and shavings, use around 4 bales between then a week, couple are really clean, one walks around his bed dragging his feet and the other is a really dirty mare, but does most of it on the mat, but pee's for England......

Mine have shavings on top of mats, I use a bale a week between 2

I use a bale a week of shavings or every 10 days if using equisorb. I alternate at the mo as he seems to be cleaner on shavings but Equisorb help the bed lie a bit better and stops him mulching everything in!! He is deep littered, and can box walk if left in too long.

Aubiose - we have 3 horses and a pony on it, the horses have one fresh bale a week each, the pony once every 2 weeks. It rots down wonderfully, the neighbours come and take it away for their gardens so we never have to pay for disposal, and the horses seem to have really good beds with. It doesnt look snowy white or anything - you need to use it a bit like deep litter and not take all the wet out - but it doesnt move so they never go through to the concrete

Oh for rubber matting!!!!!!!!!!

Thumper goes through about 4 bales of shavings a week.

I'm about to take out a second mortgage!

I use a bale every 5 days for each of mine. A week is too long as I have one in most of the time and the other is a touch playful in his bedroom and tends to mash!

So I suppose I use 3 bales a week between 2 horses give or take..... both are on mats but I like a full bed with banks.

Bedmax on full beds no matting in from approx 6pm to 6am daily

Gelding who is very clean uses 1 bale every 7 days to keep bed thick

Mare who is very messy uses a bale every 5 days.

Even with full rubber matting I use up to 10 bales of shavings a month

AND while I'm on my soapbox WHY does she insist on backing right up to the wall for a poo , she could win me the Turner prize for her abstract art

She is a DIRTY,DIRTY moo

Oh dear............ my dirty mare insist on peeing in both corners and then in the middle for good measures, wish she would just stick to one side..............BUT WE LOVE THEM........

Have (some) rubber mats (not covering whole stables!) then I like full beds of straw (live on farm) as they all lie down!! They are completely mucked out every other day and skipped out on the other. Given big bale of straw every now and then!!! When raining it seems we go through much more than when its dry!!

rubber mats and straw, use 1 slice a day

I know that people on the yard bitch about it but she's perfectly happy, doesn't cough anymore, saves my back and I have more money to spend on lessons

I did use Bedmax and used 2 bales a week deep littering. However due to the fire or something at the Bedmax factory, our yard can't get a delivery so i have moved onto Nedz Bedz pro. I put 8 bales in on Friday (totally new bed) and i have yet to put any fresh in so it seems to be lasting better than the Bedmax.

Other horse is deep littered and still on Bedmx and he has 2 bags a week but he is quite wet! I will see how the Nedz Bedz goes and possibly move Josh onto it.

I use equisorb with a megasorb base ( just have 2 large mats at the frount to keep keep the floor warmer but i cant abide a full matting bed ).

I skip out daily and take the bed up once a week.

I lay down 1/2 a bag of megaborb them pull the ebd down then add i bale of equisorb a week every 3 weeks ish i top up with 2 bales.

I LOVE equisorb.

Mysthcanthus (sp?) over rubber mats - deep litter. love the stuff, recent convert but it is so easy to use and jolly clean

Currently using approx 1 bale per week but still building up the deep litter so being generous. Hope to cut it down after Xmas.

My horse's stable has self draining rubber mats on the floor, but I still like to cover half the stable with bedding and have banks around the bed. I use 2 bales of paper bedding per week for my horse. However the paper only costs £4 a bale!

I use shavings on rubber matting. He has what I call a half bed. Just over half the stable and half the thickness I would have without mats, however this seems to be more than some people have without mats

. I probably use 2 or 3 bales a week at the mo - he's in 24/7.

The livery yard that im at has a large supply of really nice golden straw and were allowed to use as much as we like. So mine all have banks and really deep beds. i love it as they look really snuggly. You can choose to go onto to shavings if you want but because its so easy to use the straw on the yard not many of the other liveries do. Although i do agree with it being easier with rubber matting and have looked into it but due to the amount of straw avaible for me to use it would save me money not to buy them although somedays i wish i had rubber matting. Perhaps eventually i will buy them have to save up though.

Ours is on a full bed of flax and uses two-three bales a week. She's pretty dirty but also has COPD so I muck out to the floor every day and take out all the wet to stop the ammonia building up. Keeps me fit!
She was on straw pre-virus, but was sooo dirty on it.

Linx is on a straw bed which covers 3/4 of the stable, is deep littered & i put in about 1/2-1 large bale flap in per day & twice a week i dig out so replace using 2-3 flaps ( i pay £5 a week for as much straw as i want) i use to have in on mats with a thinner straw bed using 1 small bale a week but his rugs were dirtier & i mucked out 'properly' everyday
