Evening all!

Due to all this lovely weather we've been having , I've had to start bringing my two boys back in again overnight (23yr 16.2 WB and 6 yr 15.2 Irish CobxTB).

I'm moving to new grazing with lots of good grass for a couple of months next week so didn't want to buy in any more hay at the moment, but I'm off on holiday on Monday (:D) for a week and leaving my yard buddy in charge of the boys.

I have bought in four small bales of blue Horsehage to see my friend through whilst I'm away, but I've never fed it before as I usually get in the big bales or big bales of hay.

They will be in from 7pm - 6am and my question is, would you give them one wedge, which actually fluffs up to fill a net nicely, or two? I wouldn't normally ask but as I'm not there to judge/monitor how quickly they are getting through it overnight, I thought I would ask you lovely lot!

They are both of a good weight and condition and on average grazing during the day, so this is just overnight maintenance feeding whilst they are in, as when they are out 24/7 they don't need it this time of year.

Thank you! x

I ooccasionally use a similiar size small bale haylage if no big ones open.

I find 1/3rd does them well at this time of year, but in winter would use 1/2 overnight.

Hope that helps!

I'd use two wedges, that's what I fed my cob when he came in overnight and I used the purple horsehage (Timothy) one

For that size horse in for that amount of time I would say three slices of that haylage, one slice does not fill any hay net of mine :o
