Cheapest one was given to us for free, gorgeous Dutch chesnut mare for breeding, which we very sadly lost at the end of last year with a twisted gut.....

Most expensive has been 5 figures......and we have also sold ones in the 5 figure region besides far less.

OH bought me Herbie for 2900 (eek), Magic I bought for 700 and Phantom 800 as a yearling.
Eric i bought for 1850, the most I have spent personally.
edited to say, I can't ind my pound sign! My keyboard is all back to front!

Josh was £4,500 - reduced from the initial asking price of £13,000 as he had been on the yard a year without being sold

God knows why, he does crib bite (which is not everyones thing I know) but he would make a fantastic JRN schoolmaster - not that I would EVER sell him unless financially destitute/on deaths door etc

B was £400 five years ago as a two years old and Cop was £100. I've always wanted to be able to spend several thousand on a horse but I've known people who have spent £20k + on horses and only one of the horses was truly 'special' - the others all had horrible temperaments and regular problems with injuries. Mind you if I spent £20k + on a horse I'd be too scared to turn it out!!

Currently I have a rescue case from a charity that cost nothing and Fudge cost £1350. Before that the two ponies I brought were £500 & £600 and I had another two on loan.

Stinky was £2,500 but I got him for £1,800 as a yearling.

Cairo is on full permanent loan to us, but we did pay a £3,000 vet bill to have the loan converted to permanent.

Both are worth every penny.

I have spent £200 on a horse and £5,000 on a horse - money does not guarantee you get a great horse, Breeze at £200 gave me far more fun and pleasure than Fleur at £5,000 did.

Lily (first pony) was £1500, sold her 4 years later for the same sum. Not bad considering she had gone from being a 10yo nutcase to being a 14yo nervous wreck! New owners think she's the bees knees though so everyone's happy.
Maiden cost me £3000 (thinking back, I'm not sure I even negotiated price at all! Took the price on her advert and that was what we handed over, without discussion!). She's since cost me (well, insurance) £5000 in vet's bills so all in all probably £8000 for a horse that will probably only ever hack again. Silly I know, but she's the best horse I've ever met and she will stay with me for life now.
All others (first loan pony, Cracks, Cookie, and now Berlin) have been free loans or free shares!
I'm surprised actually on the poll, how so many people seem to have so many nice horses yet evidently most of them are total bargains!

My first mare bought 20+ years ago was Anglo Arab mare 12yr old and cost my Stepfather(!) £800 with tack and loads of stuff (ie. bits from around the world, jodphur boots!)...
My mare I am with now is a tb ex-racer bought as a 9yr old 11 years ago for £600..she was a rescue and the lady I bought her from rescued her and only sold her to me because she knew me very well and that I would look after her and give her tlc and had patience!!! She even asked me many times was I sure..as she was a nutter!!!

Mine cost me the equivalent of £2000 about a year and a half ago as a greenish coming 6 year old. I think I got a bargin, even though he was green as now I'd be looking at around 3 times that to replace him! That being said it's taken a lot of work to get him to where he is now!

poppy cost £750 with all her tack, and the rug that the girl had for her which measured out at 5 foot, poppy wears 5 foot 9 rugs!!!???

5k for pickle, and he was the first safe, schoolmaster, experienced 17.1hh we found, we looked at around 30 horses before finding him!

Between $1000 and $4000 (got ripped off on that one)

Paid $1000 a year ago for Lola in foal, just sold the foal for $750

Harry has turned out to be truly honest and a really genuine little horse. Will start clear round jumping in a fortnight. When I got him I didnt ever think I'd jump again
