How much did your horse grown between 3 and 4? and pics please :)

Ditto this... My TBxQH was 2yrs old last week and I keep telling myself he's 15.2 (measuring stick on order) but I suspect he's taller. I only wanted a 16.1 so am starting to worry. Not to mention he's already in a 6ft rug!
 
Ah, I like this post! It fills me with hope!!

My 3/4 ID is 2 yrs and 3 months and nearly 15.3 at withers and just over 16.1 at bum. Was hoping for 16.2 but the bigger the better as they like them big in hunter classes!!! he's already in a 6ft3 rug but some 6ft6 fit him as he is quite big in the chest.

Iv got a 3year old arab x appaloosa (75% arab), he was projected to make 15.2 based on his parents heights..both parents and grandparents are 15.2.
However when i brought him just before he was 3 he was around 13.1, he is now a smigden under 14.0h at the wither and just over 14.0h on the bum, I never anticipated he would make anywhere near his projected height but from what your horses are doing he may end up near 15.0!
 
They are all individuals and grow at their own rate.

my 3 1/2 yo is 16h and taller than both his parents already and taller than his predicted full height.

his grand parents and great grandparents were taller.

at one point I was worried he wouldn't grow big enough, now I am worried he is going to be too big
 
would you all mind stopping talking? my 3 year old (3 yrs 4 months) is 16.2 and in a 6 9 rug.. :eek:

his bum is much higher than his withers. :eek:

he is a tricky youngster :eek:

My little spotty pony was bought at 2.5yr old and 12.2hh, at 3.5yr old hes 14 hands. I didnt expect him to make that big, but I suspect he will eventually top out at 14.2hh. My 2yr old was supposed to make 14.2hh, he was 12.2hh at 11 months old, at 27 months old hes 15hands. I was hoping he was done growing and would finish about 15.2hh, this thread however has reminded me that I havent got a hope of that happening! :D
 
We have an 18 month old tb x warmblood at the yard he is 16.2 at the wither now, with back end considerably higher, I dread to think what height he will make at 4 let alone 6! he has been carefully brought up, using Sure grow and grass! that is all, but for some reason he is a giant, big boned too, and he is a gentle giant, thank god!
 
Nooo!!! My 2 year old (turns 3 in Feb) is standing at 15.3 at the withers and is croup high. I bought him in march and he was 14.3hh and in a 5ft rug. He now wears a 6ft3 rug !
The boy had a big old growth spurt, I'm pretty sure its from him going from being in a small crew yard with 4 others 24/7 at his last home, to being chucked outside to live out, with us. He's gained a lot of bone too, but I haven't measured it yet, I swear its all down to the turnout and all the exercise he gets following and annoying my mare, who he loves!
(most gratifying moment of my life - getting my scrawny grubby baby home and letting him go in his little paddock. He stood in the corner snorting, didn't move for 5 minutes, then all of a sudden exploded, bucking and squealing, rearing and dancing, showing off for the others in the next field over. Never seen a horse so happy, brought a tear to my eye. Especially as I found out that this was his first turnout for 18 - yes 18! - months, poor little mite! He kept having a mad moment then trotting over to us as if to say "really? Its for me?" Then zooming off again, heels flying)
So hopefully his growth rate will start to level out a bit soon! Fingers crossed... x
 
My mum bought her warmblood just as he turned 5yrs at 16.1hh, by 6 yrs he was 16.2hh... But he then grew another 2 inches between 6&7yrs to mature at 17hh.
I think buying warmbloods more than other breeds should have a warning about growth rates... I wouldn't touch a warmblood who's already large at 3-4yrs, as invarioubly they're goin to be huge.
 
Bought my chap in January this year he was 19 months and stood about 16hh - his withers are now about 17hh and his bum 17.1/17.2!!!! He'll be three next June.
 
My 3/4 TB is 16.1 now at 3 yrs 4mths. His bottom is about 16.3-17hh

He was turned away at the beginning of October and will come back in Fab/March so I will be interested to see if he has grown by then.

By the sounds of this thread he will have!
