How much did your horse/s cost? (what was your budget?)

First one, welsh thug, cost me nothing :p She was a gift from my grandma and cost 1800 as a safe first pony. Kickalong...
She turned out a real second pony but general diamond in every way and had her 6 years now.

Second one, Haribo (manky palomino skewbald baby) hasn't cost us anything BUT he has a couple issues which will probably cost us about 2k so hope he's worth the risk ;)

I've got a complete mixed bag here too.

First pony cost me(well my parents lol) £1100. That was 22 years ago so that wasn't that cheap back then i guess. She was called Maiden and was a 14'3 Arab, TB, Newforest cross and taught me so much. She was super strong, jumped anything and was so pretty bless her. I still miss her now.

My next was a 16'3 TB ex-steeplechaser called Pilgrim and he was given to me as a permanent loan 12 years ago and ended up just being given him in the end for free. He was quite alot like my first mare but bigger lol so we had a hoot together. Lost him at the grand old age of 23 earlier this year.

My last and current was up for £9000 but we got him for £7500. His name is Sparky and he is a 17'2 Oldenburg. Definitely the most challenging of all of them (which is typical considering the price lol). I love him though he is so cuddly but, he definitely is a bit like the girl with the curl in the middle of her forehead. When he is good he is very, very good and when he is bad he is horrid ha ha.

My mare cost me £1200 when she was 4, but we soon after found out was was in foal (unbeknown to us and the seller!) to a well bred section D stallion. We sold the foal for 1k so i got my mare for £200 really! Think she'd sell for around 4k now, a few years on, so she was a bargain!

I had a budget of £2K and found my mare for £2500 I loved her so much on first viewing and there were other people coming to see her that afternoon so dad found the money for me and he bought her there and then couldnt risk loosing her!

I love her to death! She was cheap as she was frightened of ground poles and was slow of the leg now shes amazing and clearing 1.10 oxers (when it suits her she is a mare lol)

Pretty much the same as Ihatework. Went out with 8k in my pocket to buy a 6-7 year old who would get out eventing at novice quite quickly! Went to view a couple of lovely horses, but none made me really want them. Went to view a 6yr old at a yard who dealt a bit, looked at the 2 4yr olds she had for sale too, saw them loose jump, fell in love with one of them, rode her and fell even furthe rin love with her, and brought her for a lot less than my budget! She was advertised at £4950, but I paid a less than that, still have lessons with the person i brought her from, and in my eyes is a nicer horse than any of the others I tried!!

Both of my boys were well under budget and neither were what I was looking for at the time! Couldn't be without them though!

My tb was £1200, quite expensive for an unschooled, exracer. I saw him by accident at a riding school that I was visiting and immediately fell in love with him! He had a kind, genuine face and you could see it in his eyes, he was saying "please get me out of here!". He had no turnout in 2 years, says a lot for the place! They wouldn't drop the price, so we just paid it and took him!

My idx cost me £1. His previous owner lost interest as he is arthritic (9yrs at the time) and needed time off which she wasn't prepared to give him as she wanted to buy another rideable horse and could only keep one. She was also petrified of him, couldn't even lead him. He's a big chap though, very dominant and knows his weight of 740kgs is enough to get his own way!!! He has the kindest eyes, I'v ever seen though! He was also on paddock rest and was obese, so I had to get him out. Did it in the nick of time as we discovered he was in the early stages of laminitis! He's a lovely boy now, very bolshy and still overweight but we're working on it! Also, getting him out hacking next spring!

I got a 15.1hh Andalusian mare for £5500. She was born, bred and broken in Spain, but we don't know anything about her breeding or whether she was bred from in spain or not. At first she was very difficult, and I struggled but we have completely clicked together and I do not regret getting her in the slightest. I taught her to jump myself and she is scopey and honest. Best buy for me. :)

^ this was us competing at the sunshine tour championships 2'3, she qualified in her first time ever jumping a course and this was her third ever course. Double clears every time, dressage and showing are other disciplines she turns her hoof to!

£1400(bridle only) 13 years ago and still a good boy retired. The previous owner said they would have him back as their new horse was getting use to the traffic and of course they sold dope on rope 500% traffic buddy to me. I really have been lucky with him on the roads(& we were sure the gypsys were the culprits and they did do an ace traffic job on him). However could be monkey once feet hit the grass.

Wish I could find another. Budget was max £2k. But it cost me £200 to transport him via professional as he didnt load well apparently..but he was pushed up the ramp via his rump and apart from arriving drenched in sweat calmly walked back down the ramp to his new home.

Have just been and brushed and de mud him. Best buy.

First one was a gift as I had been riding him for numerous years for an older lady and she was moving abroad and due to his age wouldn't have been able to transport him so he stayed with me until the end of his days

My current I wasn't looking to buy but she came up on my old yard for £1000 someone had brought her to take to Wales but she wouldn't load reared up and fell over backwards knocking herself out needless to say they didn't take her do I went up with £700 and took her on from there. Been loving it ever since.

Our TB X 17,hh gelding was £3500 in 2006 and we got him for £3300 ( nothing included). He was a just backed 4 year old, he's had his issues and we're still getting there but love him to bits.

Our 15.hh 12 year old mare cost £2500 3 months ago, I'd had her on loan for 18 months and although I could have had her forever on loan as her owner was really happy with her being with us I wanted her as my own so bought her with some inheritance, not sure if my olds were very happy about me blowing the money but she's well worth it to me!
