My big cob baby is 3 on the 28th May he is currently 15.1 Withers and 15.3 on his bottom, I expect him to make 16hh, but I guess he could go larger still as he is only 2 yrs and 8mths!

Taz was 15.2hh at 3 and didnt stop growing until he was 9 he now stands at just over 17.2hh with no shoes :o he was only supposed to grow to 16.1hh but hes a weirdo :) hes an ISH

Missy (only rising 4 now) was 13.2hh at 2years 9 months and is now standing at 15.2hh and bum high at 3years and 9 months she is a TBx trotter :)
 
The last one I had at 3 was barely 15.3hh in the autumn of 3yo year and by the time he was 6 was about 16.3hh ... both dam & sire were 16.1
 
They are likely to continue growing until 8 or 9 - and not just upwards! They also grow in fits and starts.
My Welsh mare has gone up 4 rug sizes from aged 2 and a half until aged 8. She's also altered back shape a lot (we've needed to go through rather a lot of saddles since backing at 4;)).

He he ! what are you doing to them SM do you have them stood in a grow bag over night?? im hoping my lad wont go too much over 17hh but he's 16.2 now at 2 years and 9 months and his mum was 16.3hh and dad was 15.3 hh - if im back on here in two years with a 18hh horse im coming to you for advice on stable size lol
 
My cob was around 14.2hh in the jan as a rising 3 yr old, by the end of that year she was 15hh, now rising 5 shes a full up 15.1hh and filled out loads, shes like a tank :eek::eek:

haha if only!! im only 5'4ft so i thought 16.1 would do me nicely... he obviously had other plans ;) Taz's dam was 15.1hh and his Sire was 16.1hh. the tallest (other than Taz) in his bloodlines is 16.3hh :o

Missy is turning into a giant! her dam was only 14hh and her sire was 15.1hh so who knows when she will stop :o she doesnt have registered breeding so god knows what the rest of her lines were like!

Is that officially measured! Very easy to over estimate weight.

And please god, no! Roo is a ISH (TBxID) and currently about 16hh at the withers, rising 3. He's only meant to make 16.1!

Piper is a mini version of Freddie. He grew about 2-3 inches between 3 and now rising 6 and is about 14.3. He's still filling out but won't go up much more now sadly.
 
Ha ha well im 5'10 so i could get away with bigger lad but dotn weigh much so puffy jackets and a fwe more roast dinners for me - isn't it odd how parents can make so much difference in one breeding and then not in another - romes dad is 15.3 and when hes been put with another mare of similar sizing the variations are massive! knowing my luck ill end up with freak of nature! hes buckskin too so he's going to resemble a giraffe if he gets too big ha ha!! least well have a chance at local show at fancy dress lol
 
When I bought my TB he was 2 1/2yrs & I was told he'd be 15.2hh... However he was really bum high at 3 & eventually reached 16.2hh by the age of 6yrs. I'm glad he did grow as he's very fine & would've been too small for me.
 
My young andalusian was 15hh on 1st January 2012 as a rising 3 year old. He was 15.2 & a wee bit on 1st January 2013 as a rising 4 year old.

Think he'll probably make it to 16hh or 16.1hh

he was officially measured at the end of last year standing at 17.2hh and a bit (about 3 mm)
 
Well I know he wil be 15.3 according to his bum (although I know someone on here have a bum high geriatric lol)
He has so much presence and is a big stocky lad, so we really don't want him to go much over 16hh, but nothing we can do about it, he's a big softy :-) His dam was 15.2, his sire 16hh and his grandsire was 15.2!
 
My cob is the same age and height. Teddy is a Clyde x cob and I've owned him since he was 5 days old. I wanted a stocky cob of about 15.2 so I've clearly got that. Lol Teddy is very like a Clyde to look at and is going to be a big lad. What breed is your boy? Be good to see some pics. Ted is already bigger than his mam and dad...not sure of how big his grant parents were but they must be influencing his height. Plus he was gelded early and that might of added to his height.
 
Hopefully mine will keep growing then! She is 2 years and 7 months and is currently around 14.2-14.2hh. Her almost full sister is currently 16.1hh at the same age.

On his passport he is called a drum cob, his dad is Seppe and his grandad is called Pablo will postpics of all 3!

Oh wow he's fab. What a big strong lad he is and just my type. I'll post some pics of ted in a bit. My ted is leggier than Fred but very similar. What are your plans for him?
 
my part bred trakhener was 15.1 at 3 and 16 hands at 6 when she stopped growing. she was a first foal , mum was 15.1 and dad was 16.1, so she did well to grow as much as she did.
 
I brought a pure id at 3 he was 14.2 6months later he was 16.2!! Had his full sister aswell she only grew to 14.2 she was the cutest thing :D
 
Scary! My Appaloosa is 3 in may and currently stood at 15.3. I was expecting 15.2 out f him, but looks like he'll make about a hand bigger!

No fancy bloodlines, just bought him locally from a guy who had both mam and dad....
He was nearly 2 yrs old here and at his first show of the season.

DD - I notice your boy shows the whites of his eyes a bit...Ted does too! Have you ever had anyone comment on that? I have and it wasn't a nice comment! Grrr!
 
Well just top buck the trend my 146 cm connemara at 2 for her grading is still 146 cm at rising 7 so she hasnt grown at all well maybe a millimeter or two in 5 years dont want her to grow much that is for sure would hate her to go overheight now

Teddy Bear and Freddie Bear!! Wow your Ted is gorgeous, infact a lot like my Freds! Does seem leggier than Fred some how! Freddie has white in one eye, don't think it's technically a wall eye, I think it makes him look cheeky, nobody has said anything yet!

I had a horse who was 13.2 at 2 and a half and finished at 15.1 and a half. My 7 year old new forest was bought at 14.1 and now at rising 8 has grown three quarters of an inch. .
 
omg, my fillt is only coming 8mths and she is 13.3hhs at wither at min amd she is bum high so soon to be bigger and her dam is 15.2hhs and sire is 16.2hhs but his sire is 17.1hhs. i thought she would make 15.3-16hhs. but by all these posts now im getting scared lol.
