Hi, I am picking up my new horse on saturday, the YO is going to pick him up in her lorry with me. She hasn't asked for any money but obviously I dont want to take advantage so will pay her something, but how much is a reasonable amount to give her? I would like it to cover petrol/diesel and some extra. It is about a 1hr 30min - 2hr drive in her lorry.
Thanks for any help

How many miles is it? as work pay 40p a mile (might be quite alot but it would give you an idea. Is that the time for the round trip? if so maybe £40? but i could be way out

I used to pay 50p a mile and a box of chocolates

I bottle single malt or cognac
or
3 bottles decent wine
and pay for a top up at the filling station, if she does not give you a price when you ask 'How much do I owe you?@
money from a livery,i nstead of doing favour for a freind could mean she becomes an 'operator'

its 1hr 30min each way and is about 55miles, i was gonna pay her and then give her some chocs or something to say thanks as she has helped me so much, with other horse. thanks for all ur replies

Without an operators licence and a DEFRA approved lorry and a SVS licence and of course the ACET for the person doing the transporting you cannot give this person ANYTHING as it is illegal to do so!

The regulations out there are very strict!
