I love my yard its fab. Moved my boys just a few months ago and everyone is so lovely and the YO will bend over backwards to do things to make the place better for you and your horse. Best bit is its only 2 mintues from home.

I dont mind but having being brought up on my parents own yard it took a lot of getting used too, I dont like the bitchiness that you seem to find on most yards and not being able to decide which field you want to use!
Oh and people borrowing your stuff and not returning it!

the thought of going on a livery yard used to really bug me.. such horrid places..

The yard im on now though is amazing!!!! 13 horses 12 owners, everyone friendly, everyone willing to chip in! very very good!!!

My livery yard is hugh, over 100 horses by far!
not in all a bad thing, as im sure with most yards has ups and downs!
best thing is every one has their fiends and all in all a nice friendly yard and every1 pulls together when needed most!
the bitchyness does get to you sometimes but you just get on with it and after all i wouldn't change it for the world!

I am on a nice yard, nice horses, nice enough owners. I hate it! I have been there 4 yrs now and I came from being on my own and cant wait for the day I can get back to being on my own. Nothing personel, it's just what I prefer.

I hate it, truth be told have always hated it, but I haven't the facilities to keep her at home nor the money to rent a yard, the day I do I'll be gone!
Until that day I have to put up with the bad fencing, terrible schools and the people oh god the people! I am pleasant and cheery to everyone on the yard but I am still plotting my escape from livery hell.
Of course if I could afford a move to the mainland I may be able to find a yard that meets my needs I have never managed that with a yard over here yet.

I sometimes think that being on a yard be myself would be great, but I would get too lonely, I am too novice and doubt I would have the facilities.

I love having the suport network and the knowledge that if I don't go up Tyler will still people during the day.

Having had my horse at home, in a small yard of 3, a larger yard of 20 & a mid sized yard of 10, i have to say i was happiest on my own & as soon as finances allow i plan to get my own place.

Whilst it is lovely to have help on hand if i am late from work etc. The bitchiness always gets me down, that & having things "borrowed" & returned broken, or not returned at all, missing hay, barrows left full of muck, arena's not levelled, fences not mended, lights not fixed. etc. etc. the list is endless.

Difficult one!

I have my horses on 2 different yards as its the only way i can keep them close to home.

One yard i love, the other i hate with a passion.

I am top of the waiting list at the yard i love for more stables - the yard has 3 for sale at the moment also so anyone wanting a 14hh cob, a 13.2 pony or a 15.3 Tb let me know and i can jump in there stables!!!

The only yard I was happy at was my last one, the other 3 I was on all made me miserable - two of them due to nasty controlling YOs and the other because of general sloppy running and a lot of bitchiness.

My last yard was mostly great, a lot of really friendly helpful people and just generally a far better attitude. I think its quite difficult to find a really good yard so if you find one you should hang onto it!

I've been on livery yards in the past, but unless I absolutely had to , I don't ever plan on going back. I absolutely LOVE being in charge of my own place (rented) and fortunately, I don't have problems getting help if I did need it. I love having no-one to answer to, yet there are enough horsey people very close by so that I'm never short of company should I feel the need. As far as I'm concerned - perfect.

I've been on 3 livery yards and they have all been so different, the one with facilities was the worst, I could do nothing right there and the horse was so unhappy. It was so bitchy. Now on a yard with no facilities, strange stables made from old farm buildings and no help available but we love it, the horse is happy and that makes me happy. Only occasional blip is it does attract the kind of owner who hasn't a clue and we've had the odd neglect case.
