How much do you pay for a riding lesson at a riding school?

As above really.

My beautiful loan mare has gone home and because I have my A levels coming up (and I am concentrating a lot on my university applications) I have decided not to replace her. With the money I am saving not having to house and feed a horse I thought I might get some riding lessons at a local school. Also this means I don't impose too much on my friends.

However I can't remember the last time I rode at a school so I have no idea of the prices!

P.S. Anyone know of a reputable riding school in East Yorkshire?

Does it vary where abouts you are in the country? I know there is somewhere near to me that charges £14 an hour for a hack. (But to be honest given it's reputation I don't think I would go there)

Where I work it is £16 for 45 min group (6 max) or £25 for 1/2hr private.

The other local riding school charges £20 for 45min group - groups usually no larger than 6 and £30 for 45min private.

I think there is a cheaper riding school locally as well but the group sizes are often 15 plus.

I used to pay £27 for an hours private lesson, this was 12 months ago, I went back to the RS for a one off lesson in January and it had gone up to £32

The riding school I was at before that charged £28 for half hr private.

At the yard I used to work at it was £22 for an adult group lesson for an hour. £18.50 for 16 and under.

For private half hour - £22 adult and £18.50 16yrs or younger.

Erm used to pay £36 for 1hr private on own horse... now pay £25 1hr private (and prefer my instructor, suits me better, though I did enjoy old lessons most of time too) ..... £25 is extremely good value imo

And..... have you thought about sharing? Might work out a bit better for you and you'd get more riding? Worth a think about

I pay £20 per hour for a group lesson (up to 6 people) and £32.50 for a 1 hour private at my local stables.
Ironically I pay only £30 for a 1 hour private at a wonderful stables with lovely schoolmasters but they're 1.5 hours away so that's a once a month top up treat only.

At our BHS approved where to train centre lessons are £22 for an hour in a group.

About £30 for a semi private with a BHSI and about £36 for a private. Cheaper if you have a BHSAI.
