How much do you pay for DIY livery?

I am just about to move to a lovely yard (tomorrow!). I will be paying £20 for a large stable, field (20 acres for 7 horses), secure tack area, large storeroom for rugs etc, amazing hacking (right on the moors) and a floodlit outdoor ménage. Can't wait! Currently paying £25 for limited land, rubbish hacking, no school, no one to socialise with and further away from home.

Hay is £1 per day (if they are out and you want a net for one day, for example), or you split the cost of the bail between you.

YO is happy to offer part livery or full livery, cost are broken down so you can create a package to suit you! Cant wait to get there!

:D - can you tell I am excited?! :o

I pay £100 p/m per horse. For that I get a stable, tack room, use of outdoor menage with rubber and sand surface and a large field. Its one of the cheapest yards around me.

£96 per month for large stable, excellent quality arena which is levelled everyday, very good grazing shared with one other pony and use of jumps etc. Then £20 for a huge bale of haylage as and when we need it.

£25 per week for a large stable (but it leaks and has been flooded in the past) and completely overgrazed all year round turnout. A very nasty portaloo (I use a bucket in my stable thanks) and they've just put in a 20x40 arena which I can't use because my horse is retired. Shared not very secure "tackroom" and sort out your own feed and bedding - hay and straw is available at the same price they charge to deliver to other yards (???). Wouldn't go there again.

the first half of that sounds identical to where i'm about to leave!!

I pay £25 p/w or £108 monthly. That's on yards with good facilities and turnout. Have paid £10 for grass livery with basic, but good facilities, ie, running water, electricity, stables, barns for shelter but only a grass school.

For ore than £25 a week, I'd expect at least an indoor and outdoor menage with extremely good surfaces, hot water wash box, proper XC course, good stables and guaranteed good turnout etc .

:eek:Wow where do you live to get all that for a bit more that £25 a week:confused::confused:

£250 pm for 2 field shelters and lovely field nothing else. Supply my own hay, bedding and daily water.

Where I am beggers cant be choosers hence the reason my other posts in other threads supporting DIY yards not to disappear, we will pay as much as full livery if we have the facilities and a good yard.

Just found a lovely private yard that currently charges £85 a month. 24/7 summer turnout, daily turnout in winter, large stables in American style barn, fab hacking but currently only has a grass school although a proper school is due to be built. YO and liveries are lovely and friendly and jobs can be done as extra. Previous yard I'd seen charged £170 a month for DIY!

Hmm, very interesting!
I've got 2 horses on a private yard which I share with one other person who also had 2 ponies. We pay £25 a week per horse for stable, paddock, indoor and outdoor schools and fab hacking.
£5 per week for lorry park. Secure tackroom, crap loo that is miles from the yard.
Unhorsey YO can be rude and problematic - but it's only 5 mins from my house and on the way to work.
I maintain the schools and have to do weeding which takes a lot of time :(
Only 5 stables max (I rent 3 of them to get an extra field for turnout)

£80 a month / £20 a week, £3.00 for a bale of hay, 3 free bales or straw a week and over 3 50p each. We have a menage, jumping paddock, field/road hacking and it's a very friendly yard. x

a lot of money :o

But I have been on two yards before that were simply not right for me, and although i pay a lot where I am now, I feel very safe, I have masses of hacking, I trust the YO, my horse is happy (and not put down for being a cob - trust me it happens !), good facilities, and lots of encouragement to do more with Shy ..... and i don't want to move unless I get my own place. And there are NO bitchy know-it-all peeps - RESULT !!!!

Sometimes cheap isn't always cheerful I guess.

£60 per month. straw £1.50, hay we buy outside in bulk for discount and can keep in hay barn. All year turn out, school. rug room, tack room, trailor park. Been here for 27 years and not planning on moving anytime soon.

Wow I'm starting to think I am paying too much. I pay £25 per week per horse for stable, turnout and outdoor menage. No hay or bedding included and no services available. Grazing is overcrowded and hacking is all on road.....I think it's time I started looking elsewhere! On the plus side it's generally a nice pleasant yard and although there are the occasional spats, they always blow over quickly. It's ok but if something else came up that I liked more, I wouldn't hesitate to move.

I pay £25 per week, includes stable, turnout , outdoor school.I pay £10 a week for adlib haylage for horse and £5 a week for the pony. Have the choice of individual or group turnout. Gave the option for assisted livery if I want it. I am the only livery :D

I'm about to move onto assisted DIY, £280 per month including all hay or haylage, feed and bedding, full services 3 days a week and either a lesson or schooling for your horse on those 3 days. Lovely indoor stables with CCTV, great turnout and 2 30x60 floodlit schools, Olympic outdoor arena, an indoor school and lots of shows onsite

Now that I understand where this is...I visited this yard as well, but you have to pay £20/hr to use the indoor school, and a similar price for the big outdoor arena (they are both kept locked/chained at other times - they are only for use for comps).

The only arena that liveries are allowed to use is the little warm up arena - but when there are shows on (nearly every weekend), you can't use that either.
Still, it's a decent price for stable, assisted diy, and full services 3d/wk, and all feed/bedding/hay included + use of 1 small 20x40m arena most of the time.

£110 a month for 12'x12' stable, my own field, 20x35m outdoor school, 25x25m indoor school, wet weather turnout pens, hay barn and lorry storage. Owner turns out for me at no extra cost.

But it is 16 miles away from where I live/work.

£23 per week for a stable, grazing, good off road hacking. Hay is £3 a bale, straw £2
Yard owner lives on site, about 25 yards away from the stable, 2 guard dogs and the gates get locked at night.
Not so much in the way of facilities, but excellent security.
