the place that i have been using the last year has put there prices up

£30 for the use of there indoor school for an hour flat work and showjumps
£20 for there out door

dont think i will be using these for a while will go to the one down the road that charges £7.50 for the indoor or outdoor for an hour and £12.50 for there cross country corse!!

i wondered what you guys are prepaired to pay

You could always build your own and pay the maintenance and business rates. :)

That will take a few years at £7.50 an hour, once a week to pay off...

If you want to use someones arena that they have paid for then you have to pay. They are not being subsidised by you, you are being subsidised by them.

Sorry can't help... But wow you got a choice. and x country course.
Can't you see if they will do you a deal if you ride a few times a week.

It does sound high when you think what most livery yards with a school charge for diy

Varies a lot round here, from £10/hour for 1 or 2ponies - this is a local livery yard who is more than happy for us to use it outside of peak hours otherwise it'd be unused then, others are between £8/hr/pony to £15/hr/pony incl use of jumps. There's an indoor we can use incl of lights at £25 for 90mins regardless of numbers of ponies.

Wow I think £30 and £20 are way toooo expensive!!! My yo hires hers out for 5 euros an hour!!!

£15-£20 outdoor and indoor always wth jumps (well one very well known local centre claims to have jumps in school, not always the case!). That price tends to be per hour but one place charges per horse, the same place that neglects to mention that they've cleared the jumps out.

Our large jumping paddock and the local country centre are both £30/hr. As that's the price of a private lesson, I think they're trying to 'recoup' theoretically lost money for not having a lesson in that ring at the time if that makes sense, at least in pricing terms.

Wow! That is expensive! Luckily, we have a small indoor at my yard, but we are allowed to go to the yard down the road(which just happens to be piggy frenchs), which has a massive outdoor school with lots of jumps, for £5! And length of time doesnt matter I. Also can use the xc course but not sure how much that is, think that was a fiver too!

This is an interesting post! I need to hire a menage to back my youngster this spring. When I phoned the local yard with an outdoor school (no jumps or poles) they quoted £30 per hour. And wouldn't rent out for shorter sessions, either. :(

Simply can't afford that... it would probably work out cheaper for me to send her away somewhere for backing, kept on grass keep for a month or two.

I really envy those that have affordable hire nearby or on site.

£5 - £10 per hour for outdoor, £20 for indoor in Oxon.

Have to say that Im very grateful to the various yards that allow me to hire their schools, and that I try and help them out in other ways (bringing horses in, collecting feed, holiday cover etc) whenever I can as an extra way of saying thank-you.
