£35 per big round bale - farmer tells me that's what it costs him and he 'usually' sells at £45 - I think it's a bit steep personally but don't really care - it smells really nice and will tide mine over until their lovely somerford park haylage arrives this winter
If your OH can deliver to the Shropshire/Worcestershire borders - and they're good quality, I'll take the lot! (I currently pay £28 per large round bale and large square bale haylage - and am going through 3 -4 a day!!)
Last winter I was paying £25 delivered, good quality and heavy bales. When they ran out, I had to go elsewhere and collect, still £25 a bale but I could roll a bale out of my trailer and stand it up myself They didn't last very long at all. Now i'm paying £40 but these are better value than the £25 stuff, 2 of us struggle to manoevre them and they last twice as long at least.
When you're buying haylage, make sure there's plenty in them!
