Riding club is useful, especially for things like grid work which are hard to practice on your own - but IMHO not a substitute for regular one on one lessons with a trainer of your choice who 'gets' you and your horse.
RC's tend to switch between instructors, and you run the risk of mixed ability groups etc. Handy if you don't have an arena at home as a cheap way of getting riding in the winter of an evening, good for young horses to ride in company, going to different venues.
