Accidentally just told my OH how much it costs to get my horsey shod (sixty eight pounds for 4 new) and I think he is a bit shocked, said that he thought it was forty????? Just wondered how much other people paid and if it varied round the country, I'm in Scotland.

Ta

£65.00 with road nails.
What I don'tunderstand is how we only get £3.00 OFF for refits.
Don't see the piont of refits at that price (£62.00)

£50 for all of my farriers customers that he took on before xmas, and £55 for the people after. He's brilliant

I'm in Coventry.

lucky you, bit thirsty myself!!!! Completely agree re the cost for refits, I know they are still having to put in the time but I always thought the large increase in costs was for the materials

Not of course that I would ever question my farrier about anything.

£110 for eggbar on front, road nails all round and 2 stud holes in each back shoe every 5 weeks, but claim for difference from £65.00 off insurance at the mo......

Yeah, my oh went to take the dog out muttering sixty eight pounds, sixtttty eeeeiiiiggggght pounds and his final words were 'I think we need to have a chat'. My own fault, he had been telling a friend how it cost forty pounds and that it was extortionate and I had to pipe up with the truth. Need to lie low for a while me thinks.

It does seem to vary from farrier to farrier though, just don't really want to change mine

I wish we still used cheque books as I just used to write Sainsbury's in the cheque book stub and he never knew any different !

£55 for a full set and i'm in the west mids. I've only been having my new farrier for the past couple of months & he's the best i've known by a long shot (and the cheapest)

Wouldn't go to anyone else now.

Because you are paying for the skill and the time the farrier spends actually shoeing NOT the cost of the shoes themselves, which are relatively cheap! (QR -haven't read all the replies)

Cost me £60 with road nails this week with a new farrier. Old farrier was £64 with road nails

afew years ago i paid 35 for a fussy pony to be cold shod and 50 with a different farrier for a full set (hot shod) prices have no doubt gone up since then (2006 ish)
