I've just been reading a post in Stable Yard regarding the price of feed going up. I was wondering on average how much do you spend a month per horse?

About £25 - £30!!

and I only have one horse....

less than a tenner each, both on alfa a and sugar beet, but good quality hay and hayledge is thier main diet (spent £12 month on hay, £25 on hayledge)

4 bags calm and condition/4 bags pature mix/2 bags alfa A/2 bags sbeet about £110 for 2 horses plus carrots and suppliments.
Plus hay 20 bales a month at £3.50 a bale, thats another £70

I refuse to work it out lol! as i have 7 to feed, i think i would have a heart attack, i shop at a few different feed stores (to help them all out lol) but that way its £20 here and £25 there etc.
i guess it would be interesting to work it out - i tend not to even look at the reciepts, maybe for december i might take notice more!

Currently nothing. During the event season Moon gets through, per week, 1 bag of nuts- £5.50 1/2 bag alfalfa- £4, 1/4 bag barley- £3 = £12.50 /week hardfeed = £50/month
Plus hay- probs 2 bales a week at £2.50/bale= £20/month

=£70 a month for one horse. Roughy.

Crikey - my horse costs me a fortune!
He eats about 14 small bales haylage @ £4.50 a bale that's £63.
Then 2 bags D&H build-up cubes @ £8.20 that's £16.40
plus Alfa A, barley and pink powder - about 1 of each per month that's another £25.
So that means about £100 per month AND he's still a skinny ribs!!

1 shetland and 1 17hh eventer:
Hayx20 at £2.50 a bale
2 bags Baileys no 4 £8 a bag
1 bag Baileys Low cal £18 a bag
1 bag Alfa A oil £11 a bag
6 bags haylage £4.50 each
2 bags speedibeet lasts me all winter!= £117.50p EEEEKKKK!
btw Shetland only has hay!!
forgot the Cortaflex HA....

About £4. I have a natural born fattie

Same here. I probably spend about £2 a month on feed (1 bag lasts about 6 months). If I include supplements it jumps up though, to about £20 a month. He's not getting any hay yet, its included in my livery so not sure how much it would be.

£0- None of ours are getting hard feed atm, all of them are natives and even though they are worked hard still have energy to burn. The hay is also home made. In the summer we buy one bag of pony nuts to take away with us to all our events, but 1 bag does us the whole season. All ours a fatties or have far to much wizz without anything else!

Maiden gets:
HiFi Lite, £8.40/bag, I've just bought my first bag today and tried to fit it in the huge feed bin and it won't all go in

so it'll probably last me about two months or more considering she only has a handful each day. So about £4/month for that.
Lo Cal balancer, £19.50/bag, again my first bag today but it should last about a month.
That makes £23.50 ish for food, then she gets NAF Superflex as well which is £35 for two months' supply, £17.50/month. Overall £41/month

For a fat horse! She does lose condition very easily (not the fat though

) which is why I want her to have a balancer, and she's recovering from a torn tendon which is why I want her to have the Superflex. She's costing me very little in the way of livery and everything else though (really I only pay for her food, feet trim, livery and insurance at the moment) so I don't mind.

1 bag hi -fi about £8
1 bag speedibeet £7, lasts 3 natives one montthey have a vit/min sup. and add -lib hay. the cob has oats when in hard work.

erm......let me see....

solo-

1 bag of hi fi lite- £8

red-

1 bag baileys economy cubes-£6.35
