Just wondering...cos I totted it up the other day and was quite shocked!
For one 14.2 pony
£140 livery
£29 insurance
£50 on feed/hay
£60 on fuel to get to her (20 mile round trip to yard)
£10 tailor storage
£30 shavings
Thats about £300 a month....wow!!!
And thats not including tack clothes or equipment!

This is something that should never be calculated

hmmmm

for 2

livery £160 per month
feed £30ish per month
feet £40 per month
wormer £8ish per month
hay £20 per month
straw £15 per month
hire school £20ish per month
extras £30-£40ish per month

so about £333-£350 per month, but livery goes up next winter so will be closer to £400-£450 as oldest will be getting more lessons & i will be competing

I put £250 a month into a seperate account for mine, which in the winter is wiped out each month, should get beter in the summer though as she lives out on fresh air!!!!

far too much - if I ever added it up - but like a lot of horse addicted people I never do add it up and at the end of the month if I'm a bit short it'll be my grub that is scrimped on and not the animals.

This is depressing....

I've calculated and got flamed before!! Part Livery in epsom/shoeing/insurance etc £530 a month.

For one horse........thinkI should take up stamp collecting instead!

Around £150 a month. But I dont have livery as it comes with the job. So that is feed, shoes, worming, rug repair and travel. Dont pay for lessons, unless I get a diferent instuctor, and as I never do that I get lots of free ones, and Oh pays insurance for me cos he is nice like that.

Part livery £85 pw, then theres the farrier, insurance, vets bills, lessons, the cost of competing, running the lorry...

No wonder most of my clothes come from Aldi!!!

It was the choice of buying a house and doing mortgage repayments each month, or staying with parents and paying less to live yet having a load of fun with the horses whilst im relatively young!!

*runs off to look for that rich man to marry.....*

Mines a cheapy for saying we don't own our own place

Stable, grazing and school £68.00
Straw £12.00
Insurance £21.00
Feed £15.00
Feet £10.00
Haylage £39.60
Total £165.00

But she is only 2 so don't buy much stuff for her yet but did buy 2 stables rugs this month for £60. Saving up for decent stuff for when she is old enough but not sure how big she is going to be. But know what colour we are having and everything.

£80 for 5.

I don't pay livery or anything for hay/straw (live on a farm). Only pay for farrier and feed, everything else like wormer, insurance, dentist, etc is paid for by my lovely mother.
