I find it best to not try and work out the "total picture" when it comes to spending on horses .... our boy roughly costs:
Full Livery: ~120 (week)
extra shavings: 10-15 (week)
Shoes: 65 (6 weeks)
Insurance: ~80 (month)
Feed:-
Balancer: ~30 (month)
Chaf: ??? (about £11ish bag? Not sure how long these are lasting off the top of my head)
Cubes: ??? (about £12 bag I think - again no idea how long they lasting)
Garlic supplement: ???
Wormers: ??? (not much)
Scheduled vets visits (dental/vaccinations): ???
Unsheduled vets visits! ???
Saddle(s) checks: ???
Rug cleaning/repairs/replacements: ???
Misc (electolytes, treats, grooming products, etc): ???
Transport (home<->yard): Petrol probably ~ 100 month + wear and tear on car
Turning up at the yard after a pants day at work working your butt off to pay for it all and having him look over the stable door, gently winny to you as you walk up to his stable, he stretches his head out and .... trys to takes bite at you: priceless
