how much for an hours lesson at your own yard?

i appreciate it depends on qualifications/experience of instructor.
but how much is it for an average local instructor?

Thanks

anywhere from £12ph-£30ph but im very lucky at the moment that i get lessons and my horse schooled for free as part of my working pupil arrangement! but the person im working for charges around £45 ish hes a 3* eventer and the dressage rider who is also on the yard charges £55ph if you come to him or £60-£65 if its at one of his clinics and hes shortlisted for the olympics so it deffinatly depends on the level of the instructor

I have to travel as don't have my own school!! My friend gives me lessons she is BS accredited and she charges me £20 an hour!! She might charge other people more but I have never asked!!

$30 an hour here, sometimes it is a private, sometimes semi-private, sometimes a group, just depends.

Back in the UK, £15 for 45 mins private lesson. Before that, paid £28 for an hours group lesson.

ETA : both in the UK taught by BHSII just for comparison.

My old one was £15 per hour lesson, but wasn't actually that good and wasn't qualified (was a friend of the YO) so have changed to a ride with your mind instructor who is brilliant and that is £32 per hour but it's definitely worth it :) Prices vary a lot round here (Am in Cumbria) :)

We have an instructor who is a level 3+ dressage judge, has competed at Grand Prix and Advanced eventing and she charges £35PH. Always teaches for far longer though and is worth every penny.

i charge £15 for half an hour, i dont teach for an hour because after half an hour of hard work your horse is nackered and i find alot of people struggle to take things in after half an hour without geetting confused and stressed because their horse starts to get reluctant. Most of my customers i teach have 2 lessons a week for half an hour each time and they all say they find it so much easier not having to take everything in at once. :)

Lessons with the woman at our yard are £20 a lesson. But I need to get horse more used to going places. So once she gets the all clear from illness we are going to travel and they will be £30 a lesson.

As a BHS instructor I charge £20 an hour if people come to me, or live in a 5 mile radius. If I have to travel more than 5 miles I charge mileage on top.

I pay £40 for 45 mins with my trainer, and I travel to her. She is a BHSI and has competed at 4*

I pay £35 at the moment, which is quite a lot, but it is having a good effect. I said I couldn't keep having a lesson every week, due to finances, but having a bit of a concentrated work is paying off.

I pay £29 for 45 mins not at home but also not at the instructor's. This is a shared lesson and it is through my Riding Club. Looking around this seems fairly hefty, although the instructor travels an hour to get there and it is in an indoor school which is charged out at quite an expensive rate.

£30/hour my instructor travels to my yard she is worth every penny regularly my lessons turn into an hour and a half and she also helps me with plaiting (I'm rubbish!) I class her as a friend we regularly speak on the phone ....:D

thanks for so many replies.
it seems to vary a lot.
I would expect to pay more for someone who rides at a high level - assuming they are a good teacher too of course!
do the BHS suggest a particular scale for experienc/qualifications? anyone know?

i agree that a good instructor that really suits you is worth their weight in gold - unfortunately can't afford that.
!

£30 for however long it takes to achieve the objective (usually between half an hour and an hour) and they go to her. Worth every penny several times over- they have weekly lessons now, and compete far less. Results are so much better as a result!
