How much does a vet visit and lethal injection cost?

If you paid the disposal people in cash...why is the vet billing you for PTS and disposal? Surely the disposal has been accounted for twice.

That is what it sounds like. I would definitely question it.
The last one I had injected, the final bill came to around £1000 but that included several vet visits, including OOH and meds and was about 5 yrs ago. I paid separately for disposal.

If you are going to claim from the insurance company, maybe the vets have written the full cost on the invoice to make it more straightforward. Just a thought. Best to get someone to ring the vets on your behalf.

My vets arranged disposal and I just paid one bill - I seem to remember it was nearly £600. I didn't want ashes back - that was just vet fees and disposal.

Just had a thought!

My vets send an itemised bill, so I would be able to see the cost of every injection, the callout fee, and the disposal if it were being charged for.
Mind you that might be because I have had several 'discussions' about being charged for things I haven't had.

Sorry for the awful time you're having so sending lots of hugs.
But I agree it does sound like you have been charged twice for the disposal. Get a friend or OH to ring vets and point out that you paid the disposal in cash. Horrid time to have to sort things like this out though.

It was just a standard call out no examination or anything. He did have sedation prior though.

Honestly, as callous as it sounds, the hunt would have charged me £250 inc but I went with the vet as it was about the same price and it seemed easier in my mind. I wouldnt have used them if I had known it was going to be closer to £700.

This is just being made needlessly hard for me by them not sending a bill, or having an accurate balance when I rang or even ringing me back. I supposed being really cross is better than being heartbroken though!

I'm sorry to hear that you are having hassle after going through such a difficult time with Frankie then having to make the final heartbreaking decision, I hope yu get some answers soon.

The main problem is because they havent sent a bill and having rang once couldnt tell me how much it was and havent rang me back. It probably is something straight forward and just an oversight or similar. At this point they can wait for their money until they do that. Its bad enough me having to chase it once, I'm not doing it again.

They sound a bit disorganised which makes me think they have messed up and charged for disposal twice. Sit tight and wait for the bill, make sure they send an itemised one and query it if needed. So sorry you are having to go through this after losing your horse.
