I've just worked out how much the cheese-thief costs me to feed and was unpleasantly surprised.

Per month:
1 x 9kg bag Royal Canin medium breed puppy dry food @ £33 delivered
24 x chicken thighs @ £12
4 x 500g beef mince @ £4
8 x tinned fish in oil @ £4
4 x eggs @ £1ish
Rawhide chews, treats/sausages for training, kong stuffing ingredients @ £5
Various cooked and raw veg, horse carrots, scraps and leftovers @ negligible

That's just over £1.80 a day. Can anyone beat me or am I the only sap? In my defence I have no children and I can only imagine she works out cheaper than one anyway. :p

Oh, and this month she owes me £3 extra in stolen cheese.

I spend about £14.00 every 5 days on my 8, then I have to buy seperate food for my pointer to aid it being swallowed as I should (long story) so about £1.50 a day for him.

My mams rescue food bill is always between £450 and £500 a month:eek:

Skinners is £25ish for a 15kg bag, which lasts me about 10-12 weeks - so say about £2 a week, plus maybe another £1 on hotdog sausages, with the occasional roast chicken? Eggs - well one a week when I have them in so again not much, and a pot of yogurt a week at another 50p. The odd bone or chew at not an awful lot. One cod liver oil tablet a day. So all in all I guesstimate the cost at a max of a fiver a week I think.

Basically - not a lot... good job too! Not made of money!

Hmmmm, per month

1 x 15kg bag of Skinners @ £22
2 x Box of Bonios @ £3
Various treats (doesn't get them very often, usually just table scraps) so maximum £5 per month I'd reckon.

So 96p a day. It's actually less as he doesn't eat a whole bag of dog food in a month and I doubt we spend that much on biscuits and treats, I was just being generous.
Thrifty pup :D

Bladdy hell. What does she use? I can only hope she gets a bulk discount!

Chudley= for anything fit and healthy that can easily maintain
Chappie= for anything over weight or with sensitive tummies
Science plan= for any puppies

She feeds them too much though, but she won't be told:p

I get a 15kg bag of Skinners (£20) about every 6 weeks for my two - they also get tins of sardines/tuna/slamon etc (about a £5 a month) and the odd egg (90p for 6) and they get a bone every week from the butchers (free) and then they also get freah meat when its going cheap in the reduced sections!! So probably £30 a month for two.:)

Brace yourselves. Stella's raw food costs $13 a week.

Mr. Allergy Pants, on the other hand, costs me $70 a week in fresh food! I am going to switch him to raw once the tree pollen season calms down and see how he fares, but at least on the home-cooked food no longer needs steroids or medicated skin wipes.

£20 a bag every month and a half/two months (he has VERY strict portion control though - 7 days at a time weighed out to he gram) and one cod liver oil and evening primrose oil tablet a day.....pretty cheap really....pays to have a fattie ;)

God it's not good for my braincells to work this hard on a snowy/sleety/windy Tuesday! I've worked it out to be £1.20-ish a day (does depend if she's chewed on my basil plant though... she flipping loves herbs )

Edited: d'oh - there are 7 days in a week, NOT 5! Puts us about 90-ish p a day :o

Those with one (or two I guess) dogs. Do you buy the big bags of feed? If so how do you store it?
Apparently one of the biggest causes of feed allergies is food mites, so if you have one dog you should buy smaller bags to prevent food from sitting and getting 'infested'. It also stops food going stale and dogs going off it.

I don't :D I buy a big bag, and keep it tightly sealed. Skinners don't do little bags and even if they did, they'd cost a ruddy fortune! Plus Otto's food could be as stale as a 3 week old loaf and he'd still wolf it down! :D

What I wouldn't give for a fat lazy dog! :p

Her majesty is still going through a scrawny phase and works off everything she eats by rocketing about in the paddock, I only hope she chunks up a bit as she gets older otherwise when I start working her she's going to disappear into thin air. To be fair she is a very economical eater - if I gave her a full bowl of food she'd eat the amount she needed and leave the rest - but muggins here wants her to have the best.

I'm liking the sound of this Skinners, half the bloody price of the Royal Canin... *plots*

15kg bags at a time... stored in a big tin ('free' with one of the 15kg bags many years ago!)... RCW do an allergy diet with a coating to deter the mites... fortunately at the rate we go through food, the mites don't have time to get settled in!

That was the one thing that put me off switching her to Skinners (she came to us on a mix of Royal Canin and Hills, decided to stick with the Royal Canin until she settled), plus the bag would be too big to put on top of the fridge (she can open cupboards and drawers, I'd have to put it in the shed or something ). It'd take her two months to get through a bag that big, is that not too long to leave it open?

I'm totally rubbish and this post has just made me realise it!! I can't even begin to work it out, I don't know how much ANYTHING costs apart from the dry food which is about £45 a bag! :o My OH would be less than pleased with the fact I pay for everything on his card all the time and have no idea how much anything is! :p
So thats £45 a month plus
frozen tripe and I don't know how much it costs or how much is in a box!
Dentastix which I know are 28 in a box but again no idea how much they cost!
Tilly has joint care sticks in 3 week packs, again no idea on cost!
Flora has loads of bait to add on in a month, stupid over priced packs of cocktail sausages at £1.50 a pack + whatever cheese I have in the fridge (usually organic farmhouse stuff so probably ridiculously priced)
Knuckle bones once a week, I think these are about £1 each?!
I could go on with stuffing for kongs etc but it's pointless! :o

I have a 'dustbin' that I store the Skinners in - no chance of it being around long enough to go stale or to get infested BUT of course the bin isn't spangle proof......;):D:D:D

Ours is kept in the bag, which is rolled up and sealed, then kept in a dustbin. Otto has tried (and succeeded) to get it open in the past, however for such a naughty pup he is surprisingly well behaved when it comes to food!
Today I was packing up the 'doggy cupboard' (full of combs, treats etc) and a biscuit fell on the floor. Otto must have sat staring at it for 20 minutes before I realised the dishwasher wasn't leaking, it was Otto's dribbles, and told him to get it! :D

Sweep won't help himself out of an open bag but can't resist the challenge of getting in the bin!! :D:D:D The Moo is surprisingly disinterested in food for a lab - unlike my sisters lab where no food of any kind is safe!! Her food is not only in a food bin but is also kept in a cupboard:eek::D:D:D
