How much does it cost to feed your dog?

Tassy is average I think. Half a 15kg Bag of Royal Canin Maxi Mature 24 per month (£40 /2 = £20 per month) then raw hide chews, one per week £1 (we buy a pack of 6 for £6.49) and one denta stick (pack of 28 large £6) plus 5ml of double strength joint oil per day (each bottle lasts 3 months £12/3 = £4) so per month in food she costs-
£34 per month to feed - not bad tbh :)

Sweep won't help himself out of an open bag but can't resist the challenge of getting in the bin!! :D:D:D

Of course having just said how good he was, Otto has just raided the biscuit box (only after he watched me take one out, so he could see how it opened I assume!) taken several and slunk off to his bed to eat them one by one in peace!!:rolleyes:

I tend to try to avoid working out how much they cost me.:(

15 kg bag Skinners D & R £20 lasts about 3 weeks, kept in a dustbin.
Frozen band saw mince about 1lb a day at 25p a llb

So roughly £8 a week between 3 of them which isn't bad.
Also should add in charcoal bonios, they have 1 each when I go out, and Shape biscuits, 1 each at bedtime. And of course, cheese, liver etc for treats.

Herman is on Royal Canin Maxi Junior and gets a quarter of a tray of Nature Diet Puppy/Junior mixed in with it.

I am very lucky and don't have to pay for the RC *brat* so only pay for the Nature Diet - it's about a tenner for 18 and he uses half a block a day.

I also get the big bags - as long as they're stored in a cool, dry place, in theory they should last well after their 'date'. If not, take it back to whoever you got it from and ask to have it swapped for another bag.

Mine get through a 15kg bag of Arden grange @ £28 per bag every 5 days, plus they get frozen mince every few days added to it @ £2 per block, and they get a hearts/tongues and bones from the butcher - so about £180 per month - eeeek!! I hate to think about it - although my cats are just as bad - a 10kg bag of JWB lasts about 8 days @ £40 per bag - eeeek I spend about £320 per month just on small furries feed **faints in the corner** - plus I've had a hedgehog this winter that won't eat anything other than JWB :D - bloody animals!!!

Bulk of the diet, chicken carcasses, chicken wings, liver and Lamb ribs £10 a month for the two, plus incidentals from the reduced counter at the supermarket and some freebies from the game butcher so probably about £20 a month for two including running their Freezer. 33p a day each.

Buddy eats a bag of JWB every 2 weeks so say £ 7.50

Then weekly he eats a salmon steak - £ 2.50
3 organic eggs scrambled - say 80p
A minced beef or beef stew dish - say £ 2.50
Two tins oily fish - £ 1.80
A half roast chicken - £ 4.40

He also has pasta and veggies so say another £2

A Denta stick every day and some doggie treat bits aswell

Actually writing it all down I think he eats quite well :D

£10.18 every other week for Royal Canin from the vet. I buy loose treats for Beastie usually and they last ages so around £3 per month or so for those. M pays for the lab food thank goodness!

2 dogs - labrador and a beauceron - labrador eats 350g a day, beauceron 650g a day of raw meaty bones - I get chicken from a chicken processors factory shop at 50p a kg for necks - today bought 20kg necks plus they had surplus to requirements supermarket 1.5 kg whole roasting chickens for 75p each and thighs and wings at just over 50p a kg. Might pinch one of the chickens to roast for us, though!

So 50p a day for the pair of them!
