How much does it cost to keep your horse(s)?

£320 a month full livery in North Yorks includes bedding, haylage, hard feed, etc etc
£60 for shoes every 6 weeks
£30 lesson fortnightly
£40 for equine massage monthly
+ competition entries and transport

Roughly £130 a week for me

Until recently had mine on DIY but moved to better yard further from home (hence why now on full livery as i can't be there twice a day) now have more facilities, better hacking, competitions on site.

DIY and including the lessons, shoeing, etc £80 a week.

I pay -
£30 a week livery which includes hay/haylage, straw, stable, field, menege with jumps and cross country jumps in the summer.
She's off work lame at the moment so doesn't have feed but she only has maintenance mix and chaff anyway so less than £5 a week when she's in work, I would guess.

Too much! lol

For my stabled horse:
Stable: £25 per week/£100 a month (Use of field, indoor and outdoor school etc.)
Haylage: £12 per week ad-lib
Bedding: £4.50 bag of shavings x2
Feed: £6.00 bag of pony nuts lasts about 3/4weeks .. £12 bag of chaff lasts the same

Then farrier, vets etc.

My 2 which live out:
£10 per week in summer, £20 per week in winter with constant supply to hay. Field sheleter and use of arenas etc.

Where do you get shavings from for only £4.50 each??

I reckon mine costs about £300 per month.

For two horses....

Livery - £45
Feed - About £40 a year (two VERY good do'ers)
Bedding - £15 a week through winter
Hay - £12 a week through winter

So in winter those basics average out at about £36/week per horse

Now on diy around £200 per month without services, thats £25 stable, £24 for 4x hay & straw.

Services are extra so comes in around £65/ £70 for those in winter.

Summer around £150 per month all in.

Used to be on part liv and would cost at least £90 pw

I was thinking my livery was fairly pricey but I'm not so sure now! Im in Essex -

Livery - £75 per wk (inc Stable, winter/summer paddocks, 55x45 arena, SJ paddock, XC practice course, horses fed and turned out/brought in, hay and straw)
Feed - £25 per wk for 2 horses
Farrier - £115 every 6 week
Training - £50+ per month

So approx £600 a month for 2 horses (but thats without insurance, worming, vets, competitions etc)

Two native ponies, one 12.3hh 18 years old, one 14.1hh 20 year old

Livery, nothing :) at home
Insurance BHS gold £60 a year
Feed, one bag FF, one bag Kwikbeet lasts about two months
Hay, none, nice farmer cuts my 3 acre spare field for me :)
Straw, £3 a month ( they live out, just come in for riding )
Trimmer £80 every 8 weeks
Only one rugged and they all came with him two years ago ( far too many ) so not bought any more! Same goes for tack.
Dentist £70 every two years
I did get a saddle fitter out this year that was £55
Neither vaccinated s ( my nf hasn't seen a vet for nine years)

So about £75/£80 a month cheap as chips :D
