How much does it cost to run a horsebox?

Hello all!
So I was interested in getting a box (I've wanted one for a while!!), sadly a trailer isn't an option for me as I don't have a large enough car to tow! Sadly I don't think that my little Mini would be up to pulling a trailer aha!
I am thinking more along the lines of a van conversion horsebox, one which can be driven on a standard license. This is because I'd assume that the running costs are lower, also I only own one 15hh horse so he doesn't need a large box. Also I could drive it on my license!
So anyway, I was just wondering what are the actual annual costs involved with running a small box? I would get a newish box so that it shouldn't need any renovation for a little bit!

Well I used to run a Cherokee Jeep (granted 3.7cc!!!) petrol automatic and a bateson trailer. It cost me £85 to fill it up every 10 days and £380 to tax it and the insurance was about £400. Blooming expensive since I used this as the daily runaround for school runs and work etc.

We made the decision to sell them both and buy me a little run around Cleo and a horsebox. So I bought a 7.5t Leyland Daf at £5500 (P reg) superb horse area but had to living finished (my hubby has done a super job fitting it out!!) but it was made by Andrew Maudsley so I know it had been made correctly. Anyway it costs me £165 to tax it, £90 for MOT (luckily sailed through sp nothing done on it). I put £50 in and it lasts me about 2 months of competitions. To insure i am with Anthony Evans (including breakdown) and I pay £263 per year...bargain!!!

My cleo is dead cheap to run, insure and tax and we have found that we are saving hand over fist!!!

Definately cheaper option than running a fuel guzzling 4x4 and a trailer.

I've got a 6T Iveco and Insurance is £175, Breakdown £100, MOT £90 and I think Tax is about £200 so you're looking at about £50 per month before fuel and maintenance.

That's my problem with a trailer, I can't afford to run a big car on a day-to-day basis as the fuel prices alone would probably cripple me!

I've got a 3.5 Renault Master on an 06 plate:

Insurance & breakdown (fully comp, 2 named drivers) £400
Tax £210
MOT £60ish assuming no retest
Service £200
total £870 + fuel + repairs

Mine costs £110 to fill up from empty , but I get about 400 miles from that if that includes some longer m-way trips so roughly 27p/mile.
