How much does scoping for ulcers cost?

About £300 if they can do it at your yard. My practice used Tim Brazil who works on a mobile basis (Bucks) so he turned up with his equipment and sedated her.

The drugs which are needed if they do have ulcers are the really pricey bit. I think it was around £200 a week.

Mine was about £400, at the vets including an overnight stay (Essex).
Agree that it's the drugs after that add up though. My 4 week peptizole and sulfracrate course just cost £700.

It’s not so much the rescoping that’s costs the most it’s the drugs needed ifthd ulcers have returned , I paid £300 in January after £40000 spent on him. And he scopes clear

I know my fees sometimes run promotions when they scope for free - presumably this is due to the expensive drugs if treatment required

I've spoken to our vet and they do not have the facilities to scope so have recommended that we go to a specialist equine hospital. Has anyone done this? Does your horse have to stay overnight?

:(

It’s up to you whether to take them in overnight. You can starve them yourself and do a walk in service for a gastroscope. From oxford one of the lamborne hospitals will be best. I’d just call around for quotes - as an outpatient I reckon you will get it done for under £200

Thank you. Going to contact some local ones for quotes; unfortunately having to travel will also mean having to hire transport.

My vets are £250 ish but sometimes do special offers. I starve for 8 hours beforehand and box her over to the vets. Pretty straightforwards. My vet has also come to me but it's more expensive.

Mine was £180 plus £38 for overnight stabling. That was on the special “gastroscopy day” I think it was more like £300 on a normal day. That’s in “Northumberland”

The vet I use in Suffolk now has a test for ulcers that involves just a poo sample and no scoping. Costs about £30. I think it's because I live near Newmarket and they have access to all the latest technology.

Can you PM the name of your vets please? Or post here, whichever you prefer. Thank you.
Also, was it the "Succeed" test they did?

Thank you all. Funding it shouldn't be an issue as I'm working a lot more to fund veterinary things. Not how I'd envisaged my summer going but hey, I wanted the horse so I can do the work. Though interested in the test definitely: it looks a lot less traumatic for the horse, which is always good when dealing with a poorly ned. :) Definitely going to contact Equine Medicine on the Move. Thank you all.
