The thing is, we all do tend to "overlook" the smaller costs and they all add up... And I only use the mudgard whilst the mud is terrible. I'd rather prevent issues before they happen !

Aww poor girly, at least she has a nice owner to make sure she's comfortable. I'm sure there are a lot of them out there with tooth problems which aren't looked at.

I loan Scooby from the riding school, so I pay £25 per week and that includes all his livery, feed etc. Then I have to pay half his farrier bills, but he only has a trim so that's about £15, and half his vet bills but I don't even know how much those are. So, including incidentals like carrots, mane & tail spray etc, it's probably about £140 a month.

Daisy averages at £250 a month if you include everything like rugs, new riding boots etc. I have a strict budget and stick to it. At the moment am struggling as have had hundreds of pounds of vets bills to pay. Will be a very long time before I can afford another lesson or to go competing again.

i'm £80 pm on diy/assisted livery
this includes ad lib hay and also straw
possibly £20 a month on hard feed
about £25 pm insurance
trim at about £15 evry 10 weeks his feet dont grow to much
so all in all not to expensive

Er ..... it has been known to be £1k a month in the past when I had 8.......since then I have had a reality kick! With 3 it is
£120 p/m rent (small private yard but pay per horse)
£100 p/m feed
£0 hay (grow our own)
£60 insurance p/m
£95 farrier every 6 weeks
Then theres wormers vets fees etc. Plus around £1k per year to run the horse box.

All inc (so shoes (6 weeks), insurance, comps, lessons, livery, wormer (6 weeks) etc) about £605 a month
! Thanks for making me realise that one (and thank goodness i have a lovely mother who helps out cause i am a student!)

The amount below is for 3 horses at this time of year:
£180pm grazing rent (£15pw x 3 horses)
£60pm round bale hay (£15 x 4 weeks)
£40pm feed

£280pm
This is what I payout, doesnt sound much does it for 3 horses
although this doesnt include wormers, the price varies depending on what type I use and at what time of year. This also doesnt include the farrier as I trim their hooves myself.

£40 a month insurence
About £40 a month shoes
And few extras like carrots, VETS FEEs!! and the occational lesson
I probably spend between £350 and £400
Hoping to move yards to cheaper livery where she can live out so less hay, bedding and feed costs

Have him on loan from work and its about £300 a month all in!
Plan to buy him and bring him home and have him out 24/7 (once I find a yard), so:
Equine Podiatrist- £45 a month whilst we transition to barefoot
Insurance- £35
Vacs, Worm, Teeth: £15
Livery- £60?
Hard feed- £50
Basically not sure if hes going to be able to work whilst I take his shoes off so not sure if I need to budget for lessons, or if hell need supplements or boots
Hopefully the trimming should be able to be done less frequently once (if) I can get him barefoot. Hardfeed costs should go down in the summer too, not sure exactly the costs of hard feed but plan to change him to calm and condition.
Its all quite up in the air at the moment as I havent even bought him yet!
