Evening all.

Just got our NFU renewal through, is nearly £400 up from last year. Was wondering how much yours is?

We pay about £400 per horse (one gelding, one mare, one filly). They're all on the same policy and after claiming for ks this year the cost has jumped massively but I believe it has for most people.

So, how much is yours? And who are you with?

Also, other insurance company recommendations would be appreciated.

Both of us with nfu, we both pay a bit over £300 - both are mares. We have taken loss of use and death off the policy though as we really have it for the vets fees.

Penny is £300
Dublin is £350
Alfie £550
Penny is 17 and 15h. Dublin 8 and 16.2 ID and Alfie is 5 and 16.2 ID x TB young eventer.
none have loss of use as then I would need a mortgage to insure all 3..
PS am with amtrust

I've been with NFU for about 5 years and had to change this year as they increased the premium by 40% to nearly £800! I've moved to Am Trust Equine and although the cover itsn't quite as good as NFU (not as much tack is covered for example), it's good enough and certainly not that much of a difference to justify paying an additional £300 a year! I really rate NFU and would definately recommend them, but just couldn't afford or justify staying with them. I did have 2 claims last year but both in total were less than the £5k limit for each claim. The only reason they gave me for the increase was Ludo's age - he'd turned 17 this year.

PetPlan Equine for Nelson on a Veteran Plan is just under £14 a month and Paddy on a normal plan is £50 a month. I was with the NFU but it was just too expensive, moved to E&L and heard lots of negatives so moved to PetPlan

£300 a year with petplan. I've never had to make a claim but the majority of people have good things to say about them.
Also got an email from them a few days ago with a snuggy hoods discount code. Bonus! :D

I was with the unmentionable company and had an horrendous experience - they still haven't paid out an oustanding £800 to the vets who treated Baz for peritonitis almost 2 years ago!! So I have swapped and am now with NFU. As I had a claim they explained that for the first 12 months the premium for vets fees is doubled and then will reduce to normal next year if no claims.

Premium is just over £600 per year - covered for everything apart from loss of use and for all activites apart from advanced eventing etc. It also includes additional cover for my jumping saddle which is valued at above normal limits. It is more expensive than I was paying before but I'd prefer to be insured by a company with a reputation for dealing with things quickly and efficiently ;)
