How much electricity does a hay steamer use?

I am just about to start using my happy horse hay steamer (does half a bale I reckon) and just interested to know how much it will cost me to use an hour a day.

Is my electric bill going to rocket massively?

That's an interesting question but I have no idea of the answer! Can't say I've noticed anything too horrific in our electricity bills. Been using it for a while now but our last bill wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Well, nothing, apart from my usual horror at the bill anyway. Not much help really. Sorry!

I have a baled sized haygain that gets used twice a day, never noticed any increase in electric bills

Does it have a sign on in saying how many Watts it uses? Once you have that, estimating costs would be straightforward.

I suspect it would be comparable to a low power kettle, because it takes quite a lot of energy to boil water and produce steam.
